For you to consider are a pair of antique solid bronze French Regency style figural cherub or putti candlesticks. An exquisitely cast pair dating to the late Victorian era, they are of substantial size and remarkable detail. A rich aged patina that’s mellowed with time enhances their antique appearance as well as the impressive and stately silhouette. Standing nearly 17 inches in height, each cherub stands on a plinth type base measuring 4 in diameter, and lifts a floral candle cup that’s cradled in a designated decorative foliate bobeche to catch excessive wax drippings. The round felted bases possibly stood on a marble pedestal or platform at one time, and if so these have been lost over the years. The bronze sculptural candleholders that remain are in beautiful heirloom condition, showing no signs of excessive use, damages, or compromising imperfections. Only their slight oxidation and aged patina is left behind to speak of their history. Wear is commensurate for age and use, so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing.
