Antique French Louis XVI Miniature Portrait Painting Bronze Ormolu Box Casket
Offered for sale is a charming antique French decorative box dating from the 19th century. Exceptionally detailed and finely crafted, this elegant piece is executed in the refined Louis XVI neoclassical style and fashioned from gilded bronze ormolu. The box is pseudo-rectangular in form with gently curved sides and features a beautifully cast roped border surrounding the frame. A continuous low-relief frieze of neoclassical palmettes encircles the body, lending the piece a sophisticated architectural quality. The slightly domed lid is decorated with a star-patterned ground embellished with finely cast ormolu cornucopia appliqués overflowing with fruit. At the center of the lid is a captivating portrait miniature housed beneath glass within a circular ormolu bezel. The portrait depicts a young woman with strawberry-blonde hair, an alabaster complexion, rosy cheeks, and striking blue eyes. Her hair is covered by a delicate lace veil, and she is adorned with cabochon ruby earrings and a matching pendant suspended from a black ribbon necklace. Her elegant pale blue gown is accented by a white fabric and lace collar, creating a graceful and romantic composition. The interior retains its original striped silk lining, further enhancing the box’s period charm. With its rich patina and time-earned character, this piece embodies the desirable “shabby chic” aesthetic and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of French decorative arts, portrait miniatures, or antique boxes. The box presents well and is in good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The ormolu surfaces exhibit tarnish, rubbing, and minor losses to the gilded finish. The portrait shows small areas of paint loss. The original silk lining is soiled, faded, and partially detached. The piece is offered as found and has not been restored. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description. DIMENSIONS: 4-1/4″ L x 3″ W x 1-3/8 H.

Stone mural of the goddess of the sky, the gods of the sky, and one of the oldest Egyptian deities under whose body the world rests, and she is the wife of the god Geb. Nut was often depicted in human form, and sometimes in the form of a cow or a tree, and one of its titles is covering the heavens. ” “The one that protects. The one who bore all the gods. And which carries a thousand souls. ” There are other popular concepts that see in the sun the image of a child stepping into the mouth of the sky goddess Nut in the evening and then passing through her body during the night and being reborn from her in the morning, and sometimes in the form of a small child of the sky goddess who is embodied in the image of the heavenly cow, and there was also He mixed these different perceptions of the daily journey of the sun god, and therefore it is not surprising that the story of “the destruction of humans” is engraved with a drawing of the god “Ra in his full human form, sailing in his sacred boat on the back of the heavenly cow, Nut. The idea of the sunset as being swallowed by the gods of the sky extends to the movement of the stars of the sky, as she sees them as just little pigs that disappear in the mouth of “Not”, where they devour them in the morning, then take them out again before the night begins, and for this reason the word “masut” in the Egyptian language meant Literally “time of birth”.
