Antique crab claw rapier sword with a Solingen blade – 1st half 17th century Double edged straight blade with one fuller both sides. In one fuller is etched “SOLINGEN”. In the second fuller can be read “MEFECIT”. Just before “MEFECIT”, more letters are etched but impossible to read. It probably was the name of the sword maker. Pommel and filigree wire are a late replacement. The guard has a very slight movement. The whole thing is strong and solid. Total length 96,5cm (38 inches). Blade length 82cm (32 1/4 inches).
