I was going to clean it, but I figured I’d leave it original and the person who buys it can decide to clean it or not. The hummingbird is screwed into the books, the screws are loose. They can be tightened through bottom of books, but you would have to make 2 holes in the felt material. Very rare table lamp, there isn’t another one for sale anywhere that I looked. Has the original shade to the lamp. The lamp weighs 10.5 pounds. The item must be delivered in the same condition it was sent. This offering is for an antique original, Ca 1890’s, Smith Premier No. The machine features very fancy silver colored foliate panels on the sides and back including those that read SMITH PREMIER NO. The machine design has 76 keys for a double alphabet set of large and small case letters. Note the bottom piece of the # rod is broken. This machine is also marked “THE SMITH PREMIER TYPEWRITER” in front of the platen. PLEASE NOTE, the typewriter is not currently working. The carriage is movable by hand and the keys do slowly move but it is in definite need of a deep thorough cleaning and proper lubrication. There is an old dry ribbon on the left hand spool but I doubt it’s usable. The interior surfaces appear to have a light coating of surface grime and dry previous oils. The black paint on the case is pretty nice but does have scattered wear as seen in our photo’s. Over all a great display piece and addition to any typewriter collection.
