This beautiful story of birth, love and death is memorialized in this precious book. Thought to have been created by John Dadleys youngest daughter Alice Mary. Absolutely heartfelt Ultra RARE Victorian Civil War memento token scrapbook featuring obituaries and births with Victorian hair art and actual clippings from the obituaries of the deceased. This original stunning book was found in Ohio. The book depicts a family surrounded by the patriarch civil war soldier named John Dadley from the 142nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry (National Guard) Organized at Camp Chase, Ohio and mustered in September 13, 1864. Moved to Martinsburg, W. VA, May 14th thence to Washington D. Duty at Fort Lyons till June 3. Attached to the 2nd Brigade, DeRussy’s Division, 22nd Army Corps. Embarked at Alexandria, VA, for White House, VA, June 7. Duty guarding supply trains through the Wilderness near Cold Harbor June 9-14. Moved to Point of Rocks, VA, and duty there till August 19. Ordered home and mustered out September 2, 1864. Regiment lost during service 1 officer and 42 enlisted men by disease. See attached screenshot which shows John Dadley dying 4 days before being mustered home. This beautiful little book measures. 4.5 inches tall x 3 inches wide.
