Antique 304 Lb Hay Budden Blacksmith Anvil. I would say the condition is very nice. Not 100% perfect but a very nice anvil. Anvil is 35.5 inches long. Face is approximately 21.5 inches long x 5.25 inches wide. Anvil is 13 inches tall. Base is about 13.25 inches long x 12 inches wide. Thank you very much. Antique HAY BUDDEN anvil dated 1914 by the serial No. 216304 stamped on the front of the base. The anvil is 18″ total length with an 11″ Face, a 1 3/4″ Table and a 5 1/4″ Horn. There is a 1″ hardy and a 1/2″ pritchel The base measures 7″ x 6″ and the tool stands 8″ tall, the inspectors mark “0 is clear below the horn. As with most Hay Buddens the strike is light but it can be read.. Check the photos for a good look at this old workhorse. You are purchasing the following. Antique Hay Budden Brooklyn, NY – Anvil – 174 Pounds. Face measures 4-1/4″ X 16-1/2″. Horn/Table 10-1/2″ (8-1/2″ without table). Weighs between 174-175 pounds. This anvil is in used shape and does have some damage to make note of. The tip of the horn has some damage. The table has some damage along the edge and can be seen in the photos provided for the listing. The “Hay Budden” markings are faded away, but there is enough there to know it is a Hay Budden anvil. The serial number is hard to make out, but it appears it starts with a “1-2″ (see last photo). Please review the photos provided for this listing to get an idea of the condition of this anvil. This is an extremely rare collectors anvil. If there is serious interest I might let it go. This is one of the best stamps of this period Hay Budden I have ever come across. Why is this anvil worth so much? The stamp you are looking at is extremely rare few Hay Budden Anvils were ever made with this stamp. This maybe the nicest example of this Stamp still around. Smaller Signature anvils have become increasingly hard to come by. This is a collectors piece just like a coin will be worth more if its rare and in great shape anvils follow the similar rules. Hay Budden is likely the best known of the American Anvil manufactures and set a standard for anvil making others were judged and compared against. In the years of operation they made 100,000s of anvils but very few in comparison survived even fewer still this old and of this size. Hay Budden only made Anvils. Where other manufacturers produced anvils, hand tools & vices for Blacksmiths.
