C 1800 Mitchell & Mott New York Inlaid Mahogany Tall Case Grandfather Clock

Mitchell & Mott New York Inlaid Mahogany Tall Case Clock C. Mitchell & Mott Federal Mahogany Tall Case Clock. Henry Mitchell was in partnership with Jordan Mott at work in New York City at 27 Pearl Street Circa 1790 – 1809. This magnificent example stands 98 1/2″ Tall, 21 1/4″ wide and 10 1/2 deep. Early period tall case clocks from New York City are extremely rare and hard to find, so this represents an opportunity to acquire an original signed example. The “High Style” inlaid mahogany case has wonderful wood selection, contrasting satinwood string inlay, inlaid rosettes, and geometric inlaid capitals. Turned mahogany quarter columns flank the waist section of the case. The shaped waist door has a shaped arched top and wonderful oval inlay. The door lock is original, functions and comes with a key. The glass in the bonnet is original. The clock descended in the Hageman family of Montclair NJ and other than the appropriate bench made restored bracket feet, it is completely original. When we acquired the clock there was chipping in the dial at the dial posts and the posts were attached with screws. We had the dial touched up at the 4 dial posts and reset the dial feet. The movement is complete and in an excellent state of preservation. There are no replacements or solder repairs to the works. The clock runs and strikes just fine. The case has a delightful warm patina and the stepped molded base terminates on ogee bracket feet. The eight day works are typical of what you find in this area and are coupled to an early painted iron dial of English origin which is characteristic of the early clocks made in New York. ANTIQUE TIFFANY & CO NEW YORK BOWIE KNIFE CIVIL WAR ERA 1837-? Original Antique marking of Tiffany & Co. New York Bowie Knife. Civil War Era 1837-? Very Beautiful brass rivets on the grip, the wood grip is showing its age with some chipping. Look at the peen on the pommel, original with patina. The brass fittings are showing original uncleaned verdigris. The blade is showing the patina that only comes from over 100 years of age. Tiffany and Company clearly stamped on the ricasso, with somewhere to the New York under the Tiffany and Company. This knife is in excellent condition for its age, maybe a small blemish/ flea bite or two on the edge of the blade ; Knife has some staining or age spots. Approximately Knife is heavy 427.91 grams. Approximately Blade Is 9 3/4. Approximately Knife 15 1/4 overall. Super Rare & Super Old. Ive been doing this for a while. And for the doubters, which I invariably get each time I list a knife- this knife has been verified by one of the foremost authorities on edge weapons. All 4 jar bodies and 2 of the lids are in good condition for age, although 1 of the jars have some chips to the base edge. 2 of the lids have unfortunately been damaged and glued. However, these could be potentially repaired professional, which should add value to the items. There is also some general wear and marks to the colour / glaze and some additional incidental chips. In spite of the above, they are beautiful, rare and historical items, which will presumably will only be used for display, so restoration of the 2 lids, is not essential. 26.5cm high with lid, 15cm wide.
