Antique Westinghouse Brass Blade 12 Double Lever Oscillating Electric Fan. The fan is estate fresh and has wear from use and age. The fan as it sits will need a complete restoration as the repaint on it is poorly done along with the sketchy electrical job. The issues with the fan are as followed, the cage has some repairs in it, missing ID tag (these are reproduced), wrong nut on cage strut, switch broke and someone repaired it at one time, as well as the obvious repaint and rust. Due to the poor wire job from the previous owner and the damaged switch it is being offered in an untested state for restoration or parts. The motor does spin freely and the oscillator wheel does move when the blade is spun. The switch could be repaired properly or a new one could be sourced. It is cracked in two places and has electrical tape around the outer edge. These double lever Westinghouse fans are becoming harder and harder to find and this would make a great restoration project of a rare style oscillator. Very beautiful and RARE Antique GENERAL ELECTRIC Oscillating fan with Brass blades and cage. Has a repair on KIDNEY HOUSING WITH epoxy glue. The 1911 GE Kidney fan was GE’s second attempt at an oscillating fan. Due to its use of pot-metal (cast zinc), this fan was likely much less expensive to manufacture than GE’s first oscillator. Unfortunately the use of this material combined with design decisions made this fan a very poor long-term survivor. Nearly any Kidney fan that is available today is either lacking the kidney gearbox or the gearbox is in very poor condition. Despite its materials, a properly restored Kidney fan is a true pleasure to own. The fan shown here in running condition, and very simple to use. Simply switch the lever from “OUT” to “IN” and the oscillation action begins. Tilt is adjusted by pulling the spring-loaded plunger arm on the right side of the fan and moving the fan to your desired position. Will be carefully disassembled, and carefully packed. A fully restored Emerson six brass bladed fan circa 1910 mode #71666. Manufactured by the Emerson Electric Mfg. Co, New York / St. The fan has been fully restored finish in an automotive black paint detailed in gold pin-stripping. New cloth covered cord. The fan cage measures 13″ in diameter, 17″ tall with a 8 round base weighs 21 pounds. Note: The three fan speeds work perfectly but to start a fan blade needs to be pushed to start motion. Antique Emerson 12646 Oscillating Desk Fan

Emerson 12646 – one of the nicest examples of an Emerson oscillating desk fan that you will ever see. Louis around 1910, this fan is constructed of cast iron and brass and made to last basically forever. The motor uses Emersons single-bearing design. The rotor spins on a long bearing instead of two smaller bearings for the ultimate in reliability and quiet operation. An oil reservoir feeds oil to the bearing and when the fan runs, a spiral groove in the rotor circulates the oil through the bearing. Being an early AC motor, is uses a centrifugal start switch to energize start windings during startup to create a rotating magnetic field to spin the motor in the correct direction. During start and stop, you can hear the scratchy sound of the switch – part of the allure of these early fans designed during a very inventive age of technological advancement. Unlike many fans of this age that have been repainted and polished, this fan retains its original finish on the brass blade and cage and has original, shiny paint. The first Emerson oscillating mechanism uses a series of gears and levers to sweep the fan back and forth. A wheel on top has five places to attach the lever arm, allowing you to set how far right/left the fan oscillates. Connecting the arm to the center hole turns off the oscillation. Starts and runs well. Very little paint loss. The blades are straight and true, but have little bends at the top. The speed switch works well and has the round fiber cover. The wires from the motor to the base and from the base to the wall have been replaced. Electrically and mechanically, everything is it top condition and is safe to run. This grade fan is something that all fan collectors would be very proud to own. It will certainly increase in value every year. Or, I can hand deliver to east coast AFCA fan meets. Here is a video.
