1880s RARE AMETHYST PURPLE 17 1/2 KIDNEY DEMIJOHN BOTTLE WITH WICKER COVER
Here’s a very rare deep amethyst or purple early hand blown glass huge demijohn bottle with its original wicker covering. I’m guessing it holds 3 gallons, but I’m not sure. We cut the bottom half of the wicker so that we could show the beautiful purple color of the glass. The wicker bottom can be put back in place so that the demijohn can be displayed with or without it. This fantastic big kidney shaped demijohn was used in the 1800s to hold wine, home brew liquors or water. It is hand blown in mold, bimal….. Applied big tapered collar…… 17 1/2″tall x about 14″across widest point….. Beautiful amethyst or purple color…… Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage of any kind. Some old content stain inside which would clean out, but we are leaving it as found. The wicker covering has a pair of handles which are real nice. Like I said, we cut the wicker above the handles so that it could be removed, but it can be put back in place. Other than that, the wicker covering is in good condition… Tight around the neck and bottom. We guarantee this awesome hand blown demijohn is authentic antique from the 1800s….. Very hard to find in this amazing amethyst color! THIS IS A FIXED PRICE BOTTLE FOR SALE IN MY STORE. Unless you contact me first. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your business…. Your friendly fellow collector, Digger Dave Beeler. We stand proudly in support of our military men and women and their families. The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those “purists” who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years. RARE Antique General Electric GE 1911 KIDNEY Oscillating Fan 16 brass blades
Very beautiful and RARE Antique GENERAL ELECTRIC Oscillating fan with Brass blades and cage. Has a repair on KIDNEY HOUSING WITH epoxy glue. The 1911 GE Kidney fan was GE’s second attempt at an oscillating fan. Due to its use of pot-metal (cast zinc), this fan was likely much less expensive to manufacture than GE’s first oscillator. Unfortunately the use of this material combined with design decisions made this fan a very poor long-term survivor. Nearly any Kidney fan that is available today is either lacking the kidney gearbox or the gearbox is in very poor condition. Despite its materials, a properly restored Kidney fan is a true pleasure to own. The fan shown here in running condition, and very simple to use. Simply switch the lever from “OUT” to “IN” and the oscillation action begins. Tilt is adjusted by pulling the spring-loaded plunger arm on the right side of the fan and moving the fan to your desired position. Will be carefully disassembled, and carefully packed. Listing several beautiful fans from GE Pancake to Emerson and more. The item “RARE Antique General Electric GE 1911 KIDNEY Oscillating Fan 16 brass blades” is in sale since Saturday, March 30, 2019.
