Antique Europen French M. 1833 Type Naval Cutlass Boarding Navy Sword

One of my best conditioned cutlasses, from releasing my collection : A 1833 model all steel French Naval Boarding cutlass with scabbard with black painting all over the handle. The makers name and date of “Manufacture Rol de Chatellerault Nbre 1838 ” is engraved clearly and very visible in script on the back side of curved blade. You can see clearly the anchor engraved on one side and a remenant of the anchor on the other side that means the blade has possibly been polished in the past. There are 2 tiny armory inspection marks on the sleeve at the base of the blade. And 3 armory inspection marks on the thumb rest of the handguard. Overall, the sword and the leather scabbard is in exceptionell good antique condition. With very little spots and dots, no rost and nice patina on the brass fittings. The brass fitting on the guard side has a 4 millimeter dot. USA /Rest Int. Antique British naval figure-eight cutlass, BOARDING NAVY SWORD

Releasing from my collection. One of my best pieces. Interesting stamped British naval figure-eight cutlass, Victorian era, ca. 1840 with it´s leather scabbard (with the hook and brass point) and leather pommel at the handguard. 1040 grams, 85 cm 33,4″ overall length, 74 cm 29,1″ blade length. Clean blade with blunt point and very small chips in sharp side, if you look closely. Nice, clearvisible, big crowned-VR mark (for Victoria Regina). Solid steel-ribbed grip and figure-8 guard, nice patina overall without rust. Remenants of black colour inside the handguard. Overall, the sword and the leather scabbard are in exceptionell good antique condition. However the stiching of the scabbard has loosened on the tip for about 10 cm and on the mouth side for about 20 cm. The leather holds still well together even without the thread, so I never thought about repairing it. Nevertheless for the age, a faboulous figure of eight model cutlass you will find very rarely. Antique Austrian Old Type Naval Cutlass BOARDING NAVY SWORD

Here is, what I keep in my collection as the. Austrian ” Old Type” Naval Cutlass (the one before the M 1858). With a full intact, I guess added, leather scubbard it has a GD under a crown stamp on each brass fitting (too small to see it really on the foto). However on the foto of a drawing of the fregatte Novara, the cutlasses are all in leather scubbards with brass mouth. Total length ca 80 cm, blade, ca 65,5 cm, weight ca 1100 gramms. The original black colour of the handguard is gone, but it has a nice patina and a very good blade and leather scubbard condition. I answer questions that I can. USA /Rest Int. Austrian or Yugoslavia naval officer dagger austro hungarian old antique navy

AUTHENTIC AUSTRO HUNGARIAN M1917. On December 1, 1918, an official act was signed creating a new state – the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, later know as Yugoslavia. In such a situation it is completely understandable that the Austro-Hungarian uniform existed in the Yugoslav fleet for a long time. Only the royal and state insignias were changed. The M1917 Austro-Hungarian Navy officer’s dagger continued to be worn with the Austro Hungarian coat of arms removed from the blade. Yugoslav naval officers carried Austro-Hungarian naval daggers well into the mid-1920’s. The M1918 daggers were perfect but for one thing – the etching of the austro hungarian coat of arms on the blade. So what they did? They simply erased (grinded or etched out) the austrian coat of arms from the blade and used it till new regulations that came in 1924. It think that regarding this particular dagger, this was the case. Originally it was an austrian M1917 then the blade was overly etched (wich weakened the steel causing the over abrasion, over oxidation and pitting as time passed) and then reused That explains why the blade is so pitted compared to its very well preserved fittings. The grip is made of white deeply lacquered wood with winded gold plated wire. The pommel is made out of brass in the shape of rope knot – nicely done and very detailed compared to subsequent yugoslav models. Brass cross guard has arms in the shape of a dolphin. The blade is made of steel, diamond section and in the shape of prolonged triangle with extensive pitting. Scabbard is made out of brass with crown and anchor crest. At the bottom of the scabbard, there is relief made Neptun with trident. Scabbard has two rings for attaching on the belt, hanger. Blade lenght: 270 mm. Total lenght : 406 mm. ALL STRONG AND FIRM.. Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Authentic U. Navy Civil War M1860 Naval Cutlass Sword, Dated 1862, made by the Ames Mfg. This Has a Brass Cup Cross Guard with Leather Wrapped Wood Handle. The Sword measures approx. 32″ Long with a 26″ Blade. It is Dated 1862 on One Side, and Signed Ames Mfg. The Markings are Worn From Age, but Legible, See Photos. Sorry No Scabbard, As Pictured! This is a Great Piece of U.
