Antique 19th Century Meissen Porcelain Bourbon Children Busts. This wonderful pair of antique porcelain Bourbon Children Bust Statues is in amazing condition for their age. There are no cracks or chips on either piece and we are listing them in as found condition. They look very similar to the Staffordshire pieces that we have seen in the past, but these 2 pieces have the Meissen blue crossed swords stamp on the bottom, and much larger mold holes than the Staffordshire pieces that are more commonly found. This set was found in an estate collection today along with several other porcelain pieces and very nice artwork from the same era. This is a tintype, also known as a melainotype or ferrotype; a photograph printed on a thin piece of metal that had been coated with lacquer or enamel. They were most popular during the 1860s and 1870s, but are still made today. This is known as a 1/6 plate tintype, since it measures about 2.25 x 3.5 inches. Photographer and publisher are unknown. “Tempting the Man in the Moon” (10564). Published by Keystone View Company, formerly one of the largest stereoview publishers in the world. This is a stereoview (also known as a stereograph or stereoscope card). It was one of the first forms of 3D photography. The images were captured with a special stereoscopic camera, which had two lenses – simulating the view of our left and right eyes. The two, nearly identical pictures were then mounted next to each other (most commonly on a piece of cardstock, glued on as photographs or printed as lithographs). The image could then be seen in three dimensions when viewed through a device known as a stereoscope, stereopticon, and/or televiewer. Standard-size stereograph, measuring about 3.5 x 7 inches.
