Offering this antique embroidery sampler, a type of needlework historically created by young girls to demonstrate their stitching skills. It looks to be A “Pennsylvania German” or Folk Art Sampler: It features classic motifs like symmetrical birds (often called “distelfinks” in Pennsylvania Dutch tradition) perched on a flower basket. A Punch Paper Embroidery: The base material looks like “perforated paper” or “punch paper, ” a popular medium for such projects in the late 19th century. Dated and Initialed: The top row typically includes the stitcher’s initials and a date. The date on this piece is 1880. To get a more basic understanding of Samplers. Traditional samplers often included several common elements. Motifs: Whimsical designs like flower baskets, birds, and sometimes buildings or people. Personalization: Most pieces are marked with initials and the year they were completed. Educational Purpose: They served as a record of different stitches and patterns a student had mastered. This sampler looks to probably be in its original frame with its old early nails and paper backing. A wonderful example out of a private collection. Beautiful early quilt in very good condition. No holes or stains. Made with wool on top and lined with some type of flannel or a thin wool. I’m not sure. It is thick and warm. Maybe for a cabin or a Primitive Colonial decor. It is hand pieced with blue embroidery around the pieces. The measurements are a little different on its sides 75″x 74″x 76 1/2″x 75 3/4″.

Up for sale I have this gorgeous antique old vintage early 1900’s hand stitched OLD FASHION NINE PATCH QUILT shown on a queen size bed in both directions QUILT is 63″ by 77″ and is in very nice condition for age aged beautifully!! Excellent craftsmanship lots of hand stitched quilting great old colors and fabric designs were used to make this simple yet beautiful old design there are random thinned frayed & damaged squares more so near the edges the trim edge is loose in area’s with some damage and the very old batting is a bit lumpy although it adds a great texture with all the quilting!! Beautiful all original as is or would make for an amazing project quilt with some new old fabric squares hand stitched in!! The original trim edge just needs reattached in a few spots and would look great I have included several pictures along with pictures of the QUILT folded into quarters so you can be sure to see the condition and all the amazing old fabric designs all in all just a great very old used and loved QUILT looking for a new home to be enjoyed for many more years to come!! Vintage Grandmother’s Flower Garden Finished Quilt Hand Stitched Green Yellow. Pre owned, vintage quilt, hand stitched. Grandmothers flower Garden design. Light green, white and yellow colored vintage fabrics with a dash of red! This is a pre-loved quilt that was lovingly and skillfully hand sewn! It is a take on the Grandmothers flower garden design that obviously took lots of time & effort! So many little patches! This would be lovely on a twin sized bed. About 87 x 68. Definite signs of wear and age, see photos to get a good sense of condition. After close inspection, I found two small patches that had worn away (pictures) , but most of the fabric is strong and in tact! There is fading from light exposure. Beautiful and well made Vintage Amish Lone Center Star Handmade Quilt. Hand Stitched & Hand Quilted. Check out the quilting patterns as seen from the back – many traditional Amish items! I have not attempted to wash it; back side has some stains (see photos). Binding needs replacement as it is worn and frayed. Bought from an Amish woman many years ago in Pennsylvania when we stopped at her home. Great for a bed covering or wall hanging with its bright crayon colors. It will make you smile!
