Antique Framed Photo of a Military Institute Class 16 1/2”x16 1/2” William Herman Rau (January 19, 1855 – November 19, 1920) was an American photographer, active primarily in the latter half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. He is best remembered for his stereo cards of sites around the world, and for his panoramic photographs of sites along the Pennsylvania Railroad. [1] He was official photographer of the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904, and of the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland in 1905. [2] His work is now included in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the Getty Museum. This black and white vintage photograph of a Military institute class (year unknown) is in a 16 1/2” by 16 1/2” beautiful lacquered wooden frame. The image itself is 9 1/4” by 7 1/2”. Image is in excellent vintage condition. Some tearing to the paper on the back of the frame that does not impact the image or stability. There is a small spot of gilding missing on the inside edge of the frame about 1/2. See photos and the Item Description above. You choose that option.
