Rare Vintage Hamm's Motion Beer Sign Scene-O-Rama Antique
Rare Vintage Hamm’s Motion Beer Sign Scene-O-Rama Antique. In good used condition. But not without some of the typical wear. The outer shell and roof have no cracks or breaks, and sides are still clean and bright. Motion is smooth and good. I did open it up, and everything seems good, except I did notice that on the lined plastic sheet that is behind the scroll, that makes the illusion of movement, there are two corners that have broken from over-tightening (refer to last photo). This part of the sign is not visible when assembled. Also, there is a very thin line horizontally on the center of the scroll if you look very closely. Ive read that this is common and a result of poor design, where the scroll passes over a screw. Its hardly noticeable though. All exterior screw mounts are intact. Cord is original and in good condition. A wonderful sign overall. This sign hung in my grandfathers tavern here in Milwaukee. His tavern closed in 1976, so wasnt on display for long. In turn, not being stained and damaged as badly as many of these signs have. It then lived a pampered and smoke free life in my fathers wreckroom for the decades following. The Hamms Scene-o-Rama, made by Lakeside Plastics in Minneapolis in the late 1960s through early 1970s, it features an outdoor scene with a waterfall and river that appear to flow, as well as a smoking campfire. The motion effect comes an outer, semi-transparent scroll and an inner, vertically lined background that gives the water (and campfire smoke) the illusion of flowing.
