This Crusader-period bronze strap fitting displays a strongly symbolic Christian design interpreted as stylized angel wings, rendered in a bold, linear manner characteristic of Crusader metalwork from the Latin East. The front surface is decorated with symmetrical, flowing motifs forming paired wing-like shapes, evoking celestial protection and divine guardianship. Such imagery aligns closely with medieval Christian representations of angels as protectors of the faithful and defenders in spiritual and physical warfare. In the Crusader context, angelic symbolism carried particular weight.
