Description : An early Historical Westward Expansion Flask, blown at a New England Glasshouse (NH/CT/NY), c. This is the Success to the Railroad – Horse Pulling Cart Pint from the GV (Railroad Flask) Group, blown in an attractive, varying shades of dark Olive-Amber glass. The pictorial is the same on both sides; raised medial ribs with sheared and fire-polished mouth and crude, tubular pontil scar on base. Condition : Very Good to Excellent overall with strong mold impressions and desirable subject matter. Minor imperfections are noted below. Some expected highpoint wear on the areas of highest relief. An internal imperfection (thin wall) noted near the horse head/RAIL; see close-up, photo #6. Slight wear and a pinhead nick noted on the lip. Traces of content residue visible under strong backlight; this flask has not been cleaned. No cracks, open bursts, repaired damage or other excuses. Guaranteed old and authentic.
