Authentic Antique 48 German Christmas Goose Feather Tree with Metal Candle Cups. Authentic Antique German Goose Feather Christmas Tree with Handmade Wooden Base. It was made with a wooden center dowel and wire branches with green goose feathers attached. This tree is over 100 years old. A friend told me that most were tossed after electricity came into homes as lighting the trees with candles was not safe. It is in original condition and has had no restoration. It has lost some of the goose feathers. Some of the’bark’ on the center dowel has come off. I think that may have been paper. It could use a good cleaning. I like it just like it is, however, there are people that know how to restore them. One of the best is here in Dallas.
