Original Vintage Super Rare Olaf Von Bohr 4702 Gancio Lot of 4 Wall Clothes Hook

Olaf von BohrOlaf von Bohr. Olaf von Bohr is a prolific designer who has done a lot of product design work for Kartell. Here is a brief biography of Olaf von Bohr. In that post I looked at the 8800 and 7800 bed table, which remains a wonderfully usable piece today. In 1970, Olaf von Bohr designed the 4702 wall clothes hook (gancio, which is Italian for hook), another wonderfully usable piece, so much so that Kartell reissued it, and it is for sale at retail today. The 4702 wall clothes hook is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The hook is made of three parts in plastic, and also requires the appropriate fasteners to attach the base plate to the wall. Installation is incredibly easy. Once the base plate is securely fastened, the hook itself slips into place and snaps over the base, and a threaded peg screws in and attaches the entire assembly. From what I have seen, for the original issue hook, the base was sometimes made in the same color as the hook and peg. Sometimes it was provided in black. It really doesnt matter because after installation, the base cannot be seen anyway. The combination hook and peg makes this a top quality wall mounted coat rack. It is extraordinarily sturdy and has the size and strength to allow three heavy winter coats to be hung from it when the need arises. That is what I do with the two I have on a wall in my closet. Each hook is 4-1/4 by 4-1/4 by 2-5/8 10.8cm by 10.8cm by 6.7cm. The vintage hooks are opaque and made from ABS. They are marked on the back 4702 Kartell made in Italy in a circle with design / OLAF VON BOHR underneath. The vintage hooks were manufactured in white, red, orange, green, brown, black, and chrome. The new issue in black and white are made from ABS. The other color alternatives are made from transparent or batch dyed polycarbonate. Bricks are of random appearance; each is significantly different from all the rest. There is lots of individual character. No two are the same! The one(s) pictured are not the actual one(s) you’ll be getting, but they will be in the similar condition as pictured. Look at my feedback; people LOVE these! They make super, super gifts folks! Depending upon which one(s) we choose to send you, the plaque might be centered, or it might be moved around to one side or the other depending upon if there is something cool on the brick we don’t want to cover up!! Once in a while we even run across some cool yellow ones too! What a GREAT gift!!! What a unique item, what a great cause. Soldiers Dale Beatty and John Gallina were injured in a Humvee in Iraq in 2004. Dale lost both legs, John suffered traumatic brain injuries. They could have chosen to respond any way to these disabling injuries, but they chose to not allow their injuries hold them back. They founded Purple Heart Homes, and in fact were pictured on the cover of TIME in 2011 under the caption “The New Greatest Generation”. Dale unexpectedly passed away last year due to compilcations from his injury, but John and their team strongly carries on in his name. Both shied away from individual recognition, but are rightfully-so proud of their charity and what it has done for our veterans. The charity fixes up houses to help our veterans out – they build ramps, widen doorways, insulate, install new electric, hot water heaters, and much more – at NO COST to the veteran! It is all funded from donations. They also have a program where they refurbish entire homes and sell them to the veteran at 50% of the home’s value. What a great program! We’ve completed 8 projects locally so far!! Now, the history of the bricks… An addition was built in 1918 at the original Harley-Davidson Milwaukee, WI, plant. Around 2002 the wing was knocked down and put into storage at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Each comes with a letter of authenticity which tells the story and chain of control of the bricks. Each beautiful COA on heavy gloss paper is signed and has an individually numbered hologram attached. What a great gift folks…. What a great cause… Its a win-win, that’s for sure. Classic art deco table lamp with a Beautiful original Chrome Hexagonal art deco stem. With the most wonderful flying saucer glass globe shade in multi coloured marbled effect on white glass. In full working order. The chrome is in good condition with some age rub. Normal for 100 years old. However gives a simple but classy look. Original Antique 1950s Porcelain 48 Coca Cola Button Sign POLE. This is for the POLE and bracket only NO SIGN. Pole measures 6 ft tall + the 48 round top bracket. Found in a old junkyard. Overall a solid candidate for a restoration. The thin metal panels on each side are rusted and would probably look better replaced. Pole measures 10 wide x 4 deep. Recently acquired 1980’s several dates on box (1983,1984,1985) original empty Rainbow Brite Cereal Box (Kite Edition). This is the prettiest Rainbow Brite box I have seen over the years. Bright colors and excellent condition. Most of the Kite Edition boxes have been destroyed because people would cut the boxes and send away for kite. The bottom has been taped closed. These are extremely hard to come by. I haven’t seen one in the condition for sale in many years. Will include Cereal Box Acrylic Display.
