This is a vintage / antique Cairns Leather Fire helmet dubbed “The New Yorker”. The label on the inside reads Cairns Brothers Inc. New Jersey The last patent number on the tag inside the hat was filed April 15, 1960. There is also a decal on the outside. I was not able to figure out its meaning but appears to have a birth date and a death date. It weighs approximately 2 lbs 12 ounces.
