The frame is cast iron, and it is suspended on a counter-weighted pulley system that allows the lamp to be raised and lowered. Originally a kerosene/oil lamp, it has been since electrified. It can be converted back to kerosene by replacing the standard threaded burner unit. The milk glass shade is 14 in diameter, and has hand painted country craft floral decorations. The chimney is a Phoenix brand, with a 1897 patent date. This is a complete, all-original lamp, except for the electrification. The ironwork has been painted several times, and has not been restored. The glass oil reservoir is now slightly different in appearance than shown; the one shown has a hole in the bottom. I will update the pictures shortly.
