This offering is for an antique mounted photograph of the Sidewheel Riverboat Altonian taken during the Alton flood of 1903. Please see our other listings for additional images of the 1903 flood. The Altonian usually served as a ferry but was pressed into service during the flood rescuing both people and livestock. She is shown here with a herd of horses on her deck. The image quality is great with a very good focus and contrast. The photo measures app. 8″ X 10″ including the mount, the sight size is app. 5″ X 7″ The condition is excellent with some wear and minor loss to the edges of the mount but no rips, tears or repairs.
