Antique 17th Century DATED 1682 Our Lady of Guadalupe Michael Archangel Medal

All our listed items are original Christian devotionals. Some may have been cleaned or polished before their arrival, by their last caretaker. Their use is for personal devotion. Please note, the medal is offered for sale, not the pictures. This medal is from the estate collection of Miguel Darío Miranda y Gómez (December 19, 1895 – March 15, 1986) who was a Mexican Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Mexico City from 1956 to 1977 and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1969. In the late 17th century, the Bishop of Mexico authorized a Catholic devotional medal of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A limited number of those medals were minted in Rome and used as gifts for wealthy Catholic patrons. This one of those medals. This medal is 2 inches long and weighs 33 grams of bronze. It is dated 1682 as you can see at the feet of the Virgin of Guadalupe in the posted pictures. This medals dating can be confirmed on pages 2 & 3 of the book AN INTRODUCTION TO RELIGIOUS MEDALS, by Bob Forrest, and published by NUMISMATICA INTERNATIONAL in 2004. In addition this book has chapters (outlined in the table of contents), describing each of the categories of medals, their possible place of pilgrimage (acquisition), and origin of the mint where they were made. Size: H: 32.8 inch (without halo 28.3 inch), PEDESTAL: 15.1 inch × 11.4 inch × 3.1 inch, HALO: 9 inch H: 83.5 cm (without halo 72 cm), PEDESTAL: 38.5 cm × 29 cm × 8 cm, HALO: 23 cm material: wood, terracotta, glass eyes, brass, silk, velvet, etc. Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows of Mary Statue “Cap i pota” 1900s. Antique French Clock set. Ca 1850 – Levy Freres PARIS. Vincenti marked clock movement. Bronze gold gilt with sevres porcelain medaillon plaques. Birds figurines on top. A very unusual form and rare to find with medaillons in this format. Fine hand paint scenes. Top piece from mid 19 th century. 35 cm wide and 31 height. Comes with key and pendulum, clockwork needs to be looked at because not used for very long time and when i wind it stops immediately. LARGE 43 RARE ANTIQUE HAND CARVED WOOD OUR LADY MARY MADONNA & JESUS STATUE. Authentic and genuine from Germany! More details about it below.. Please view the photos as they are part of the description. She is wearing a crown and is standing on the snake. Jesus is holding the orb and is blessing. Both have suffered a lot and look very weathered. On some parts the whole limescale inclduing the paint has come off allready. The crown is damadged as well. But still, it has something very special. Her facial expression is full of gentleness and permeates the viewer with piety. I absolutly love the patina. The statue was made out fo different parts and the sculptor glued it together. It might be hollow and maybe a relic is stored in it like scultors often did back in the days.. A unique contemporary witness of the past. My grandfather placed it in the hallway nearby the fireplace in the basement. Touching it was forbidden for me as a small child under penalty of punishment :. Weight: 14,4 kg. Materials and Technique: It is full round sculptural hand carved out of the finest wood and made of different parts. Technique used surface: limescale, painted and by hand.
