Welcome to Antiques & Moore! THIS LISTING IS FOR A GORGEOUS LARGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PERIOD 10-TUNE CYLINDER ROLL MUSIC BOX WITH BEAUTIFUL INLAID DECORATION AND EBONIZED TRIM, c. This stunning music box has its original works encased in a lovely cabinet with inlaid design. The lid and front are decorated with a matching marquetry inlaid classical design of three instruments (harp, flute and horn) and sheet music surrounded by flower spray and foliage. The sides of the case are Rosewood with the top and base having ebonized trim and feet. Brass key hole on front, no key. The lithographed paper inside the lid lists 10 musical compositions with their composer’s name. This lovely music box has a wonderful sound although there is one missing tip (tooth) on the comb. The paper music sheet on interior of lid does have wear on the edges and corners and a tear, however, it is original to the box. Measures 7 3/8″ high, 24 1/2″ long and 10 1/4 deep. The case is in very nice condition although there is one small area on the upper right front corner with slight damage which does not show when lid is closed and one of the round ebonized feet has a rubbed area (see photos). No other noted damage or flaws. These minor flaws are consistent with normal wear and the age of the item.
