Authentic 1780’s sioux indian pipe tomahawk gun barrel head + forged lap weld
Authentic original 1780’s Sioux Indian pipe tomahawk. This example has a highly sought after forged head that was originally a gun barrel. You can clearly see rifle marks inside the bowl. The iron head has a nice “in the metal” patina and shows good use and wear patterns. The head was forged from a gun barrel and there is a nice lap weld seen as pictured. The haft is probably ash, single shoulder hole, and several old brass tacks. The mouth hole is well worn and intact. The head of the tomahawk is almost exactly 8 inches long. Haft is 16.75 long. Authentic Antique 48 German Christmas Goose Feather Tree with Metal Candle Cups
Authentic Antique 48 German Christmas Goose Feather Tree with Metal Candle Cups. Authentic Antique German Goose Feather Christmas Tree with Handmade Wooden Base. It was made with a wooden center dowel and wire branches with green goose feathers attached. This tree is over 100 years old. A friend told me that most were tossed after electricity came into homes as lighting the trees with candles was not safe. It is in original condition and has had no restoration. It has lost some of the goose feathers. Some of the’bark’ on the center dowel has come off. I think that may have been paper. It could use a good cleaning. I like it just like it is, however, there are people that know how to restore them. One of the best is here in Dallas. I would prefer that the new owner would pick it up but will entertain mailing it. It is certainly a piece of Christmas Tree History. Ready for Your Collection or a Perfect Gift for Someone Special!! Extra-Large! Authentic Antique Nepalese/Nepal Middle Hills Wooden Shamans Mask
One of a kind. 33 1/2 inches tall (that’s just a few inches shy of 3 feet) x 15 inches wide. Before the competition of today’s modern USP and Fed-Ex… This was a beloved piece to make the journey. Highly expressive, the mustache(s) look like the angry arms of an octopus that wants to pull things in towards its mouth. My research suggests that hails from the middle hills region of Nepal. This is an object which floats in the space between the seen and unseen world.. The hard, living conditions of this region (especially back at the turn of the century) were unforgiving. These types of “shield masks” that were never intended to be held, worn or otherwise were strategically placed to protect the family house, water springs, bridges, and other strategic points in the life around the local community by the local shamans. This mountain region tends to be inhabited by different ethnic groups and is a melting pot that would include influences of nearby cultures including Indians (India), but is prevalently Buddhist. Knowing the true difficulties of properly saving, storing, and cherishing an artifact like this one, i have opted to attach a tasteful copper wire on the reverse (easily bent into shape) and two galvanized hammer-tacks.
