This is a beautiful Chest. Wood covered in (appears to be) leather and lacquer painted. The leather has some wear and tear and some scratches and scuffs. It’s very heavy and sturdy, well put together. Black with gold and black Auspicious designs. The are Birds on the top. The Tea pot/cup and flowers in vase on the front. It has brass hardware – a hinged lock on the front which includes the key like locking mechanism. Handles on the ends with little brass bumpers. The back hinge is not visible but there are sturdy side slide hinges (rarely found in these chests). The interior is covered in Chinese characters (writing) and drawings. The lid fits over a recess and raised internal box. Measures approximately 12.25″ wide x 7″long x 7.5high. Please see pictures for more details and condition (used but still in good condition).
