ANTIQUE LARGE SWEDISH DESKTOP MECHANICAL PIN-WHEEL CALCULATOR ORIGINAL-ODHNER MODEL 27 / FOUR FUNCTION. Metal-cased model, made of cast-iron and brass. In GOOD condition, 100 % original, old patina. IT APPEARS TO BE WORKING, THE HANDLES TURN AND IT ZEROS BACK. Functions: add / subtract / multiply / divide. Marked: ORIGINAL-ODHNER, Göteborg Sverige, No. UNDERNEATH STAMPED IN THE CASING IS m602 nO 5. Model 27 has no check dial or counter carry mechanism, but is fitted with a back-transfer mechanism to allow a sum or product to be re-used in a subsequent calculation. On completion of the first calculation the operator clears the rotor and presses the back-transfer lever (at the right of the carriage). As the accumulator is then cleared, the mechanism transfers its contents back to the rotor. A small release lever is provided below the back-transfer button, in case it was pressed accidentally. No restoration or repainting. The orange and yellow colours are still very bright and have not faded much over the years. No significant oxidation or paint loss. The coin mechanism works perfectly. Measures 17.5cm tall, 9cm wide at the base and 5.5cm deep at the base. Weighs 97 grams unpacked. Some minor denting of the metal around the base rim – also back left hand corner. Normal scuffs to the high points you would expect. The tongue has two tiny splits on one side – doesn’t not affect the stability of the tongue but mentioned for accuracy. I BELIEVE THIS AUTOMATON WAS FROM A MACY’S DEPARTMENT STORE WINDOW DISPLAY. HER RIGHT HAND HOLDS TWO GOLD EARRINGS AND IT MOVES UP AND DOWN WHEN YOU PLUG IT IT. THE ELECTRIC CORD HAS SOME CRACKING DUE TO AGE. THERE IS AN INSPECTION STICKER DATED 1962 SO I BELIEVE THAT IS WHEN IT WAS MADE. HER LEFT ARM HAS BROKEN OFF AND I HAVE NOT TRIED TO MEND IT. IT LOOKS LIKE A SIMPLE REPAIR WITH THE PROPER EPOXY GLUE. I BELIEVE A PLASTIC EPOXY GLUE WOULD HOLD WELL. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT RESTORATION PROJECT AND WOULD DISPLAY WELL AFTER THE ARM IS REPAIRED. DUE TO AGE IT WILL NEED SOME GENTLE CLEANING. THE BROKEN ARM IS FIXED AND NOT MECHANICAL LIKE HER RIGHT ARM. THE MECHANICAL ARM GOES UP AND DOWN AND IT STOPS AND STARTS AT RANDOM TIMES. THERE IS A SMALL MECHANICAL WHEEL (SYNCHRON CLOCK MOTOR) THAT TURNS THAT STARTS AND STOPS THE MECHANICAL LIFT ARM THAT GOES UP AND DOWN. I THINK SHE LOOKS LIKE A FORTUNE TELLER HOLDING THE GOLD EARRINGS IN HERE HAND. THE EARRINGS ARE REAL, THEY ARE CLIP-ON AND THEY ARE VINTAGE COSTUME JEWELRY. THERE WAS A VINTAGE BEAD NECKLACE THAT BROKE AND SOME OF THE PLASTIC BEADS ARE MISSING. WE WILL INCLUDE THE NECKLACE IN CASE YOU WANT TO REPAIR AND ADD TO THE DISPLAY. THIS HAS A WOOD BASE THAT STANDS ABOUT 12 TALL. THE SITTING WOMAN IS ABOUT 26 TALL. THE WOOD BASE IS ABOUT 14 IN DIAMETER. THE DISPLAY WEIGHS ABOUT 16 POUNDS. THE ENTIRE DISPLAY IS ABOUT 37 1/2 TALL. IT WILL BE FULLY INSURED IN CASE THE POST OFFICE DOES NOT HANDLE THE PACKAGE PROPERLY. THE WOOD BASE HAS A PAINTED WOOD TWIG MATERIAL THAT WRAPS AROUND IT HIDING THE MECHANICAL ELECTRIC MOTORS. THERE IS AN INSPECTION TAG THAT READS THAT IT WAS PRODUCED BY THE ART MFG. I BELIEVE THIS WAS MADE IN THE USA BUT NOT SURE. THE SHOES AND CLOTHING ARE WORN AND TATTERED AS EXPECTED FOR THE AGE OF THIS DISPLAY. I SEE A SMALL CHIP IN THE BISQUE UNDER THE SCARF ON THE NECK THAT I POINT OUT IN THE PHOTOS. I ALSO SEE A SMALL CRACK IN THE ELBOW OF THE BROKEN ARM THAT WILL NEED JUST A LITTLE GLUE TO REPAIR. I WILL SPEND WELL OVER AN HOUR PACKAGING THIS SO PLEASE PLAN ON SPENDING SOME TIME GENTLY REMOVING THE PROTECTIVE BUBBLE WRAP WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT. THIS DOES NOT PLAY ANY MUSIC. I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS DESIGNED TO PLAY MUSIC. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS CLOSELY, WE DON’T WANT YOU TO GET SOMETHING YOU WON’T ENJOY. WILL INCLUDE SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION. Description : An exceptional, painted cast iron Mechanical Bank, J&E Stevens Company, Cromwell, Connecticut, ca. This is the Eagle with Eaglets Bank designed by Charles M. Henn (Chicago, IL): An Eagle with glass eyes feeding two eaglets in their nest, all with articulated beaks. The bank is operated by placing a coin in the eagles beak. When the snake-form lever under the tail feathers is pressed down, the bird tilts forward, lowers its wings and drops the coin into the nest. At the same time, the eaglets rise up and open their beaks. Base plate is marked PAT JAN23 / 1883; Trap cover is marked PAT FEB2 1875. It has not been cleaned. Perfect working condition; all mechanics operate smoothly. Eagle is the desirable spotted wing & back variant, and retains both original glass eyes. The original paper and wood bellows is present but does not chirp with the lever is activated. Minor scuffs/scratches noted on base plate. This J&E Stevens Eagle Bank is guaranteed old and authentic; highly-appropriate for any collection. See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. ANTIQUE CAST IRON MECHANICAL DOG NUTCRACKER. Weighs approximately 3 pounds 8.1 ounces. Could not find a name anywhere–even opened it and no name. Measures approximately: 4.75 tall to top of head. 11.50 long nose to tail. 2.0 wide at bottom of feet. Face looks a little like a St. Bernard or Lab, but it has a Golden Color so maybe it is suppose to be a Golden Retriever… I don’t know. Condition: Has a Golden Color to it. Looks like some of the paint is worn off in areas. The lever makes the dogs mouth open and close. It appears to be a Nutcracker. One side of the nose area of dog is not an exact match or mirror image of the other side–they don’t line up perfectly. If you feel like you would like additional pictures, please let me know.
