This is a Charles Carmel, c. 1910 Coney Island style carousel horse, last operated at Marshall Hall Park in Maryland. Measures 54 from nose to rump. Professionally restored twenty years ago by a preservationist at R&F Design (who was then located within the New England Carousel Museum). Restoration made to show – rather than conceal – construction of horse, with dowels and cracks where the wood was joined to be visible. The item “Authentic, Antique CHAS. Antique Carousel Horse Looff Outside Jumper 1900-1905 $23,000

In a very good condition. Original paint was stripped (we bought it this way). It is 54 tall x 70 long about 17 wide in the chest. Originally came from somewhere in NY, end of 80s was in a private collection in Oregon, after that- in California. Possibly carved by Charles Carmel. (suggestion by Karen Mears, curator of Museum of Carousel Art and History). The square nostrils, the jaw, the way the head is cocked suggests that it couldve been done by C. Below is a clip from an article re. Keansburg, NJ Carousel Question. Fortunately, the former / original owners have taken over again. The horses were replaced with fiberglass ones and you really can’t see anything of the original carousel anymore. The small one at the kiddie park remains intact with it’s small metal horses. Occasionally you can find a Keansburg Carousel horse on line. I bought my horse from them (yes, a Keansburg horse that I names Shorty after the carousel operator in the early 1960s)Hope this helps you. Old Antique High Back Loop Seat Cowgirl Horse Saddle by Victor Marden

This is a really rare Cowgirl Saddle made by Victor Marden of the Dalles, Ore. It was made between 1900–1915 when he had his business in the Dalles. Seat–see photo–the skirt length is 23 in. Loop seat style and padded seat area–5-1/2 in. High cantle–lace up stirrup leathers that even look original. It has a scraped repaired horn–the rawhide binding on pommel and cantle are worn in places. I would say it has original stirrups as the leather tread is worn through to the wood that also shows wear–keep in mind this saddle is 100 plus years old and has had use so you will see wear and possibly something I did not find that important to list. It has a solid rawhide covered tree and sheepskin is pretty much gone. Strings look to have been replaced at some point in time–the leather is clean and supple. If you are a collector of cowgirl or early saddles this is for sure a really nice cowgirl collectible. Description : An early Historical or Pictorial Flask, blown at Saratoga or Mt. Vernon Glass Works, NY, ca. This is the GV-5 “Success to the Railroad / Horse Pulling Cart” Pint in various shades of medium and dark Forest and Olive Green. Pontil scar on base; sheared and fire polished mouth. These flasks were made to celebrate (and encourage construction of) Early American Railways. Obverse and Reverse both feature a Horse pulling a keg-filled Cart on a Railway with embossed test: SUCCESS TO THE RAILROAD within an oval panel; heavy medial rib on each side. Condition : Slight wear noted on base and areas of highest relief, tiny nick on rim; otherwise Very Good to Excellent overall with desirable color, subject matter and strong mold impression(s). No cracks or repaired damage. There are remnants of an old cork adhered to the inner mouth, as shown. Note : this flask was photographed in natural light against a neutral background; it will display a shade or two lighter on a sunlit sill with 100s of tiny seed bubbles visible throughout. ANTIQUE CAST IRON HORSE PULL DOWN HANGING OIL LAMP hand-painted shade

The frame is cast iron, and it is suspended on a counter-weighted pulley system that allows the lamp to be raised and lowered. Originally a kerosene/oil lamp, it has been since electrified. It can be converted back to kerosene by replacing the standard threaded burner unit. The milk glass shade is 14 in diameter, and has hand painted country craft floral decorations. The chimney is a Phoenix brand, with a 1897 patent date. This is a complete, all-original lamp, except for the electrification. The ironwork has been painted several times, and has not been restored. The glass oil reservoir is now slightly different in appearance than shown; the one shown has a hole in the bottom. I will update the pictures shortly. Full Size Antique 19th Century Carousel Horse Original Paint / Metalwork, c 1890

About the item: Stunning full size antique carousel horse, c1890. It is beautifully carved in a’prancing’ style and the head is turned slightly to the left. There is lots of original metal work , including stirrups. There is a good amount of original paintwork giving just the right’distressed’ look. Overall condition is good in line with age and use. It is structurally sound with no loose joints etc. There is evidence of various historic repairs and some of the metal strap work is loose. The eyes look to be the original glass ones. The original horse hair tail has been replaced with leather but this could be easily rectified. It sits on a modern stand.
