1880’s 36 JUNIOR HIGH WHEEL PENNY FARTHING TYPE ANTIQUE BICYCLE

This is a very rare survivor as it is a JUNIOR Penny Farthing Type HIGH WHEELER. It’s not a little bike – just not the huge size generally thought of in this style. The front wheel is 36 inches tall so it’s about 3/5ths size. Seat has been recovered with black leather. The bike was repainted long ago with Black Lacquer. Not sure of date of manufacture but castings and parts look to be late 19th century. Cab Rubber Tires and Cone’s instead of bearings indicate the age. This bike takes some skill at first to get up and going but the bike works fine. It’s up to you. Use it in your act or decorate your loft or business space. It’s Cool and priced for you. Not sure of the brand as the badge was removed for painting over 30 years ago, then misplaced. This bike hung on the wall of a bicycle shop for over 45 years. Now it’s time to have a new owner. I have many more photos but can’t seem to add more. Message me and I’ll send more. 1891 -1892 48 STAR HIGH WHEEL SAFETY ANTIQUE BICYCLE. Made by The H. Features hollow rims, roller bearing rear hub and forward arched handlebars. Needs repair work near the ends of the horizontal frame tubes where they bolt to the lower steering bracket over front forks. A complete bicycle that has been incorrectly chrome plated by the previous owner rather than being nickel plated as was originally done. I CAN BUILD A STRONG PLYWOOD CRATE FOR THE ADDITIONAL COST OF MATERIALS TO BUILD IT. Antique Paulsboro New Jersey Cairns High Eagle Fireman Fire Helmet Vintage

For your consideration is this beautiful early 1900’s antique Cairns High Eagle Fireman Helmet from Paulsboro New Jersey. The helmet appears to be in very good condition for it’s age. The high front on this helmet is older than most. This front shield does not have the brass support bar behind it. This front is before Cairns started to install them. This front has just a wire behind it as seen from the picture. The front reads Paulsboro VFA (Volunteer Fire Association) with a large number 1 in the center. The Paulsboro VFA was organized May 4th, 1899. The only damage i can see is a small split on the side of the helmet and the eagle has minor damage at the tip. The liner is intact and has a few small holes from age but would be expected from a helmet this old. The photographs in the description are not included. Only the helmet is for sale. They were posted for historical reference. 4/14/1899 – PAULSBORO FIRE COMPANY ORGANIZES. A fire company was organized here when the different modes of fighting fire in a country town were discussed and a committee was appointed to solicit subscriptions to membership. Old Antique High Back Loop Seat Cowgirl Horse Saddle by Victor Marden

This is a really rare Cowgirl Saddle made by Victor Marden of the Dalles, Ore. It was made between 1900–1915 when he had his business in the Dalles. Seat–see photo–the skirt length is 23 in. Loop seat style and padded seat area–5-1/2 in. High cantle–lace up stirrup leathers that even look original. It has a scraped repaired horn–the rawhide binding on pommel and cantle are worn in places. I would say it has original stirrups as the leather tread is worn through to the wood that also shows wear–keep in mind this saddle is 100 plus years old and has had use so you will see wear and possibly something I did not find that important to list. It has a solid rawhide covered tree and sheepskin is pretty much gone. Strings look to have been replaced at some point in time–the leather is clean and supple. If you are a collector of cowgirl or early saddles this is for sure a really nice cowgirl collectible. Old Antique Loop Seat High Back Herman Heiser Cowboy Saddle

This is a very collectible Herman H. Heiser Saddle–Loop Seat Saddles were popular from the early turn of Century into the early 1900’s so hard to date this one. I would say it is in above average condition and the leather is supple and clean. High cantle–old wood metal bound stirrups. Lace up stirrup leathers–the saddle has had repairs on the jockey area on both sides so please look at the pics–there is also a small tear on the bottom fender area by where it goes around the stirrup–it has been re-fleeced at some point in time and most of the fleece is still there—the saddle is probably 100 yrs. 1889 FARRINGDON RATIONAL high wheel antique bicycle penny farthing

1889 FARRINGDON ORDINARY RATIONAL PATTERN high wheel bicycle Made by ELLIS & CO. This style high wheel bicycle is of the “rational pattern” meaning it has a larger rear wheel. It was produced by the same ELLIS & CO. That made the FACILE high wheel safety both of which shared the same larger 22 diameter rear wheel size that made this machine easier rolling and a joy for the rider who experienced less of the rear wheel drag of a smaller diameter wheel found on most high wheel bicycles. SEE THE LAST TWO PHOTOS SHOWING DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION FROM AN ORIGINAL ADVERTISEMENT. The front wheel is 48″ diameter and the rear wheel is 22″ diameter. ABINGDON ball bearing steering head and neck. Tangential spoke pattern wheels. Hollow handle bars with 3 1/2 drop. One handle grip remaining. Like the FACILE it has double row ball bearings on each side of the front hub. Ball bearings to the rear hub and pedals (one pedal missing). Slotted adjustable throw pedal crank arms. Pan saddle is clamped onto backbone and was probably used for racing. Weight of bicycle is lighter than comparable high wheel bicycles of the era.. Extremely rare and hard to find surviving example of an antique bicycle made before last century.
