Antique EDISON talking machine phonograph FIRESIDE COMBO-Cyg Horn/K Reproducer
Old original : EDISON FIRESIDE COMBINATION PHONOGRAPH. This nice used phonograph was recently bought at an estate sale. It has the combination (2/4 minute) gearing upgrade along with the optional cygnet horn assembly and Model K (2/4 minute) Reproducer. I cleaned and polished the cabinet, crank handle/bezel as well as the upper motor parts/bed plate. The motor works was degreased then greased/oiled. The belt was also replaced. Will be less to other zones depending upon your zip. Please inquire for an accurate quote. Louis, right off of I-70. Machine by itself, weight: about 20 lbs. CONDITION : I cranked and played both a 2 & 4 minute cylinder record and it plays/tracks as it should; I see no problems with the playing conditionwhen receiving said item, the new owner may have to adjust the Reproducer sensitivity on the records surface by adjusting the top cygnet horn thumb screw either up or down; the motor surprisingly runs fairly quiet. I believe the cygnet horn crane, spring and thumb screw to be an earlier reproduction. The horn shows some dings, scratches, etc. As shown in photosbut NO major damage; one could have it re-pinstriped in gold. The bed plate shows small areas of paint as well as clearcoat chipping/losswhich is typical. The nickel plated Model K Reproducer is in very good conditionI did replace the dried out gaskets as I had them on hand. The finish on the cabinet is original and was cleaned and rewaxed. Please read the above and closely examine my photos for additional details. VIDEO is posted below showing Phonograph playing a 4 min. Please see my other. Larry & Carole Meeker. Antiques of a Mechanical Nature. Genuine Antique & Vintage Collectible Electrical Devices. Edison Battery Powered Electric Fan w/ Blade & Cage. This sale is for the super nice Thomas A. Edison Battery Powered Electric Fan w/ Blade & Cage pictured. This minty nice looking example of a rare and desirable battery powered Edison Fan is the nicest I have ever handled. This fan was carefully cleaned and beautifully restored to original running condition by a well known restorer and recognized authority on Edison Fans. It is as nice as one could ask for. It has a 6 blade fan blade that is properly marked Edison on each blade. 6 blade Edison Fans are much rarer than the much more commonly seen unmarked 4 blade version typically seen. The brass basket style cage looks great. The Edison ID tag with no serial number is on the side. Again, as nice as one could ever ask for. Pics tell the story. What you see is what you get. Please look at all the pics to see the details and condition. They are an important part of the description!! Enjoy and Good Luck! This listing is for an old Edison record player with records that are extremely thick in width. I just realized the arm is not on the record player. I do have it and it works great, just snaps in. There are a few chips on the wood, and the front screen has some damage (this can be seen in the photos I’ve attached) but is in otherwise good condition for its age. This player is very cool – you wind up the crank and it plays music from the early 1900’s. This record player measures 21 1/2″W X 23 1/2″ X 50 1/2H. Smoke-free, pet-free, very clean home. After countless trips to the kids’ schools for show-and-tell and the passage of time, I find myself using it less and less. The player always has and does now work well. The spring is strong and, with a little persistence, the crane holds the horn at the correct angle so that it does not exert too much pressure on the cylinder. It comes with a Model C reproducer along with everything else seen in the pictures. Over the years, I have assembled over 80 unduplicated cylinder titles with everything from Vaudeville acts, to parodies of Black Americans of the day to many musical selections to diverse to describe. About ten years ago, an amateur wood working friend of mine build the stand on which the player rests. It is constructed of oak and has six drawers just tall enough to hold an upright cylinder in its case. He did a good job of matching it to a picture I gave him and it really does look like it’s from the early 1900s. Video will open in a new window. Rare Antique 1920's Phonolamp Model C Victor Victrola Columbia Edison Phonograph
We are very pleased to offer a beautifully restored, antique, circa 1920 Phonolamp (with original, matching pedestal). A clever amalgamation of both design and function. This whimsical hybrid (an operable combination of Phonograph and Lamp) integrates the practicality and convenience of acoustics and lighting into a single apparatus – the Phonolamp. The company continued production of the Phonolamp until the early 1920’s. An economic downturn resulting from the Great Depression, in tandem with the public’s burgeoning preference, changing demands, and overwhelming need for radio technology, were ultimately the variables that contributed to the Phonolamp’s demise. These unusual, often garish, “Roaring Twenties” machines rarely come up for sale, but when they do, it is easy to see why they are so highly prized. A stark contrast to our generation’s definition of so-called “durable” goods, this Phonolamp’s astonishing 100 years of unremitting service is an obvious testament to the superior quality, exceptional craftsmanship, and sheer ingenuity, that went into producing (as a whole) these rather sophisticated, yet practical devices. And even now, a century later, it is apparent why Phonolamps are still recognized and appreciated for their innovative, aesthetic, and technological merits. In addition to being quite rare, this Phonolamp is complete, is working, and is in very good condition. This vintage, floor-model, 52-pound “curiosity” consists of three parts – the machine (with horn), the pedestal, and the shade, all of which have been carefully and professionally restored to their original specifications. This item was built to “outlast, ” as evidenced by its construction – using ferrous and non-ferrous metals (brass, steel sheet metal, and galvanized tin). Completed in the original French Bronze or Roman Gold finish, this ornate, monumental 67 (Total Height) marvel epitomizes the opulence, unbridled creativity, and robust fashion of the 1910’s and 1920’s. The cylindrical cabinet/body of this phonograph is heavily decorated in the Baroque-manner with embossed, scrolled foliage and 7 floral applications. The phonograph portion 17″ (Diameter) x 30″ (Height) is driven by its original THORPE UNIVERSAL ELECTRIC MOTOR with COMPENSATOR, which runs on either direct or alternating currents. The motor has been meticulously cleaned and completely rebuilt (see photo). The Thorpe motor works sufficiently, as all wires, worn/damaged parts, and ten-foot cord have been replaced with authentic, period-correct parts. The cabinet’s interior houses its original, (mostly intact) green felt-covered, 12 (Diameter) disc-turntable which accommodates 7, 10, and 12-inch 78 RPM records. Turntable’s speed can easily be regulated by adjusting a separate control knob (located inner, front). Phonolamp is also equipped with its original decagonal, “best grade” SUPREME reproducer (or sound box) – specially adapted for the Phonolamp. The reproducer is in excellent condition. Affixed to the tone arm (also tonearm) is a black tag with the following information: U. 55217 – PHONOLAMP – SERIAL NO. 1089 – MODEL NO. Attached to the inside of one of its two doors are three (3) original needle reservoirs (2 “holding cups” and 1 dispenser). They have been flawlessly re-chromed and polished… Two, 1920’s, Victor Victrola, Tungs-Tone Stylus (Gran Sonoridad & Sonido Fuerte) needle tins (with steel needles) accompany this machine. Interior illuminates by way of a working, single socket, pull-chain light. Ornate cabinet body serves as the base for the vertical, external, flared horn, as well as a two-light cluster head (both of which are hidden within the lampshade). The lampshade 10″ to 23″ (Diameter) x 17 (Height) is original to this machine, and has been completely (and impeccably) restored. Shade’s decorative metal frame is divided into 6 sections (each of which bears an applied floral medallion). Frame has been relined with new, mushroom pleated, off-white linen. Sixty detailed floral and fruit festoons adorn the bottom fringed circumference of the shade – which supports 60 beaded tassels. Tassels are comprised of strands of champagne-colored, faceted “jewels” that alternate with strings of metallic beads and golden pom-poms. Original ball finial accompanies shade, as well. The hexagonal pedestal is absolutely magnificent. It is tapered and measures 35-1/2″ (Height) x 17″ (Diameter). Flat panels and round base are generously decorated with 9 floral applications. “Plateau” is stamp-impressed with the initials – A O B. All in all, this gorgeous, investment-grade Phonolamp has been well preserved, and is ready for display and/or use. This remarkably rare machine is also one hundred (100) years old! Suffice to say, some imperfections are to be expected. Despite some minor issues (in the broad scope of things), I would not hesitate to say that, while there is always some room for cosmetic and mechanical improvements, in all likelihood, there are few examples (if any) that are currently being offered on the market, that are this clean. It may, however, need an occasional prod to initiate movement; At times, during play, a low spot on turntable may inconsistently skim the turntable base (or motorboard), creating a sporadic rub sound. Obviously, this machine would likely benefit from some additional adjustments in order to be perfect, but I elect to defer that endeavor to the subsequent owner. Here is your opportunity to acquire, admire, and prominently display an extremely desirable, 1920, floor-model Phonolamp… Which is certainly worthy of any collection! I intend on posting more photos, in addition to some videos, (perhaps within the body of my description) – once I learn how to do so. There should be no surprises regarding product. The Phonolamp is in the exact condition as shown in photos and exactly as stated in the description. Whichever is safest and most cost efficient. We take great care in describing each item. Antique Edison Triumph Cylinder Phonograph Wood Oak Horn Plays, Is A Project
Antique Edison Triumph Cylinder Phonograph with an oak Cygnet wooden horn marked Music Master. The horn has some paint dots and separation at the joints where the wood panels meet. You can see gaps of light thru. There is some other woodwork that might need to be done on the horn as well. The elbow has been repainted with homemade woodgrain effect. The crane is not original and home made a long time ago with rust now showing. The shaver is no longer present. It has a model H reproducer which I rebuilt with new gaskets and sounds great. It has 2 and 4 minute gearing but with the model H reproducer will play 4 minute cylinders only. I oiled the motor and packed grease in the spring barrels. The motor runs strong and smooth. The case has the Edison script decal. The corners of the case had nails put in to repair which you can see in the photo’s. The lid has a sliver of veneer put on the top side for a repair a long time ago. So, because the horn and case have problems, I call this one a project even though it plays very good. This is to be picked up at my house. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO. The item “Antique Edison Triumph Cylinder Phonograph Wood Oak Horn Plays, Is A Project” is in sale since Friday, August 25, 2017.
