Ansonia Antique Hanging Model Double Weight Wall Clock. Here is a NEW stunning’Antique Hanging’ model double weight wall clock. The entire clock case and the finials are made of solid oak. The all SOLID brass casting decoration on the whole clock body is just breath taking. The time shows on 12 individual porcelain numerals. This clock is driven by double weight and it has an 8 day Ansonia brass movement with half hour and hour striking. There is a glass door on each side of the clock case, so you can see and access the movement from the side. This clock is quite large, 46-1/2″ tall, 17″ wide and 9 deep. Its solid oak case with all those solid brass castings will impress any guests in your home or your store. Please take some time and view all our pictures. You are viewing a magnificent all original timepiece by Sawin & Dyar Mahogany & Giltwood Banjo Clock, Boston, MA. Signed & painted metal dial. Patriotic reverse painted glasses. 8 day time only weight driven brass movement which has been ultrasonically cleaned and serviced. The braided nylon cord was replaced. The hands are original steel hands. Comes with original key not pictured. 41? X 11″ x 4″. It is in excellent condition for it’s age. I’ve searched everywhere and could not find another one like it. The only flaws are a piece of wood has broken off where the eagle sits. The four corners of the inlaid wood on the bottom door are missing. Other than that the clock is amazing. This clock is that old. The mechanism is in excellent condition and keeping accurate time. If properly serviced this clock should last another 200 plus years and this is proof of this. The reverse painting is in excellent condition which shows a little wear due to its age. When received, you will have to unscrew the throat to reinstall the weight. If you feel you cannot do this, it will be your responsibility to have a professional to reinstall this. Please view all pictures and if need be contact me with any questions before making an offer. Whoever is fortunate enough to own this clock you are getting a rare and highly collectible weight driven timepiece. John Sawin of Boston, Massachusetts. John Sawin was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts on September 13th, 1799. It is thought that he was trained as a clockmaker by his uncle Aaron Willard. John was also related to Lemuel Curtis who was a cousin. Throughout his career, John had a number of working relationships. He is then listed as a journeyman working with Aaron Willard Jr. By 1822, Sawin had formed a partnership with George W. Dyar as Sawin & Dyar. This lasted until 1827. John Continued to make clocks on his own and continued to employe many apprentices and journeyman. The number of signed Swain clocks that survive is today’s marketplace suggests that he was very successful. He advertised that in he made Tower clocks and wall regulators. Wall timepieces, gallery clocks and Massachusetts Shelf clocks have been found. John Sawin is probably best known for creating the lyre form wall timepiece. For your consideration is a antique Seth Thomas No. Case, dial, hands, pendulum, key and weight all original to the clock. The movement is unmarked and I do believe it to be original as they made these for about a 20 year period with out markings. Original paper label on bottom inside of case, nearly impossible to make out. You can see age wear to the original varnish finish on the case. I mounted the clock, and wound it up and it runs great.
