36 Star American Flag CIVIL War Era Original Antique

Excellent gift for the American History enthusiast. Original period American flag of 36 stars. Printed on cotton muslin, this flag measures 8 x 11 1/8 inches. The six rows of six stars are in a dancing pattern pointing in all directions. The orange tint of the stripes is indicative of 1860s vintage. The 36 star flag was official from 1865 through 1867 during the presidential term of Andrew Johnson. Since Nevada, the 36th state was admitted to the Union in in October of 1864 undoubtedly many flagmakers anticipated the official date of the following July 4 and produced these during Abraham Lincoln’s final months in office. This flag is in good condition with light wear from age, especially in the blue canton near the location where it was attached to a stick. It is an excellent small size for framing as part of a Civil War relic collection, a displ. Ay regarding Abraham Lincoln, or any historical collection regarding the history of mid 19th century America. Regarding the star pattern, there was no established pattern for stars in the American flag until 1916. The 6×6 arrangement was common for 36 star flags, and the stars could all point in one direction, or all stars in each row could point in one direction and alternate row by row, or all stars could point in random directions, as in this example. Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Authentic 1865 U. Civil War Light Cavalry Sword with Original Scabbard, made by the Mansfield & Lamb Co. This Has a Brass Basket Cross Guard (Marked 45) with Wood Handle. The Sword Blade is in Good Original Condition, and Signed By The Maker “Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale RI” on One Side, And Signed by the Inspector US C. Wilson and Dated 1865, On The Other Side. This Sword is in Overall Very Good Original Condition with a Wonderful Aged Patina. The Wood Handle Has Some Stress Cracks From Age, Condition As Pictured! The Sword measures approx. 41″ Long with a 35″ Blade. The Total Length of the Sword in Scabbard is 42 1/2. The Scabbard is the Original Steel Metal Scabbard with Two Loops and Faded Gilt Patina. It is in Good Original Condition with a Couple Dings, As Pictured. The Sword Slides Nicely In and Out of the Scabbard! The Blade is Clean, with Normal wear From Age. Antique 1861 McELROY MACON GA Civil War Era Bowie Knife Bone Handle LOOK

Antique 1861 MCELROY MACON GA Bowie knife Civil War Era. It is NOT marked CS. I bought this at a collectors estate sale and have owned for some time and just ready to let someone else enjoy it as it just doesnt fit my collection Im more into WWII. Ive done a lot of research on McElroy and he/they made A LOT of items for the civil war not just knives but there just isnt an abundance of information out there. On other examples I have seen similar tang stamps all caps, Ive also seen McElroy with the little c As well as W. Ive also noticed other dates like 1862 and a few others. Another thing is blade shape Ive seen this style, a fuller more clip point blade style and a dagger style blade. The overall length on this is rite at 13.5 and the blade length is 9 it is full tang and the spine is just under 1/4 wide and it weights over 1 lb. Im adding in a few pictures of others Ive seen one with this style blade, one totally different style but has same brass hand guard and the other I found with entirely different tang stamp. The bone scales that are on it arent bad but they arent great either in my opinion but if they are 1860s then I wouldnt except superior quality. Fits in hand nicely. The scratches on the edge look like someone tried to sharpen but it didnt work out. Was like that when I got it and I never tried to fix it or clean it up. Has a nice pitina on blade. This Has a Brass Basket Cross Guard with Leather Covered Wood Handle. The Sword Blade is Signed U. 1862″ on One Side, and “Prov. On The Other Side. The JM Inspector’s Mark is the Marking for John Maggs who Inspected Swords for the Civil War in 1862. This Sword is in Original Unrestored Condition with a Wonderful Aged Patina, As Pictured!!! The Sword measures approx. 40 3/4″ Long with a 34 3/4″ Blade. The Total Length of the Sword in Scabbard is 42 1/2. The Scabbard is the Original Steel Metal Scabbard with Two Loops. It is in Good Original Condition, as Pictured. The Sword Slides Nicely In and Out of the Scabbard! The Blade Has Darkened From Age and Has Some Pitting On the Top Part of The Sword.
