1870’s Black Forest Antique Beha Shelf Cuckoo Clock Germany Model 509. This model 509 Futures the fence grape Vines and grapes done in beautiful detail with the butterfly on top the clock is 16″ Tall x 10″ Wide x 6.75 Deep. Its a beautiful collector clock. The clock has no missing pieces and is in fabulous shape and runs beautifully. It has the traditional double doors with an extraordinarily large cuckoo bird, it comes out beautifully, sounds beautiful and has a deep soft sound, keeps fabulous time and is a very strong Runner. It is a 50 hour clock. It has new leather Bellow tops, movement cleaned, oiled case cleaned and waxed. It even retains its original advertising stickers which I find most surprising about this clock. Excellent pair of lamps in working condition, really lucky to find a matching pair and in such great condition. See photos for measurements, they are approximately 26 tall to the top of the harp. Some history of the Gruvwood style. Manufactured by National Products of Louisville, the Gruvwood line of lamps was selected for the 1964 Worlds Fair to be featured in the House of Good Taste. The line was subsequently used by leading mid century American and European designers of the day in their decor. The name “Gruvwood” came from the use of strips or squares of walnut hardwood that were separated by 45 degree angled gaps. The lamps show light evidence of use, a few minor rubs to the black metal trim on top and bottom, an easy fix with a dab of marker or paint. The walnut is in great shape as shown in photos. 2 different switch mechanisms, not sure which came first but one was obviously changed at some point. The protective felt bases are no longer there but you can see remnants around the edges of the bases. Please see our other mid century Gruvwood lamp listings. Antique Telephone Model 554 – Black – Fully Refurbished. Western Electric 554 Original Black Plastic. The Model 554 came about as a replacement for the model 354 and quickly became the new workhorse of Northern and Western Electric line of telephones. The 554 was manufactured in many colours over the years but originally in black, brown, white, beige, blue, green, pink, and yellow. The dial has been fully disassembled, cleaned, lubed and timed to ensure years of trouble free service. We have also added a brand-new plastic fingerwheel, die cut dial card and acetate. We have professionally chrome plated the cradle for a brand-new look. We do have available modular back plates, message us for details. The shell has been painstakingly put through a multi-step restoration process which includes sanding with 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit. This ensures that there are no scratches, dents or dings. The shell is them carefully buffed on our two step buffing wheels. This takes out the fine abrasions left by sanding and leaves the plastic with a smooth factory fresh finish. Finally, we hand apply a three-step plastic restoration compound. This leaves the plastic with a beautiful high gloss finish. Dont be fooled by other plastic 554s where they are simply painted, we have the real deal. The base is completely stripped of all its components and sandblasted clean. Up for sale is this fantastic antique Black Forest Table Cuckoo Clock Case. The clock has several pencil markings including one in a door 30/8/86 Morath. It also has a partial Morath Brothers label on the interior of the backboard. The number 491 is written on the verso of the ornately Carved front, on the backboard and on the interior of the case. I can’t make a definitive statement on the Maker, I’m just not an expert in this area. It very easily could be by Jean Baptiste Beha or a contemporary of his. Measures about 18 1/2″ x 14″. It does have Old repairs to the top deer’s head which was reattached and about a 7″ x 3″ section at the bottom center looks to have broken off and been glued back in place, there is a visible chip missing from that damage as well. Looks like some loss to the top deer ears, winding arbor holes filled, some damage and soiling to numbers, one door looks replaced. There is also some general aging and expected wear. I have many more pictures of the markings, damage & repairs, and details as well. Please view all 12 photos to help judge condition. Not shown in these pictures are holes added to the bottom to accommodate a Weight Driven chain movement and pendulum. Antique Black Forest cuckoo clock w/ wood plate 30 hour movement, circa 1860. Clock runs but will not cuckoo. Highly carved case has some issues but you would to if you were 160 years old. As seen in photos there are missing. To the leafs that decorate the case there is also split to the lower trellis as well and one of the bellows has a tear.
