Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Authentic 1865 U. Civil War Light Cavalry Sword with Original Scabbard, made by the Mansfield & Lamb Co. This Has a Brass Basket Cross Guard (Marked 45) with Wood Handle. The Sword Blade is in Good Original Condition, and Signed By The Maker “Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale RI” on One Side, And Signed by the Inspector US C. Wilson and Dated 1865, On The Other Side. This Sword is in Overall Very Good Original Condition with a Wonderful Aged Patina. The Wood Handle Has Some Stress Cracks From Age, Condition As Pictured! The Sword measures approx. 41″ Long with a 35″ Blade. The Total Length of the Sword in Scabbard is 42 1/2. The Scabbard is the Original Steel Metal Scabbard with Two Loops and Faded Gilt Patina. It is in Good Original Condition with a Couple Dings, As Pictured. The Sword Slides Nicely In and Out of the Scabbard! The Blade is Clean, with Normal wear From Age.
