The serial number is 76585 and is stamped on the bottom of the cranks housing men’s balloon tire bicycle with 26 wheels. I BELIEVE this is an Elgin but I may be wrong. Could be Dayton, etc. Looks a lot like an early Schwinn B10E. See pics and be your own expert These are next to impossible to find in ANY condition! With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike! This bike has a cool mens cruiser style frame truss rod forks, wide handlebars, newer hand grips, full fenders with “flat” braces, (have that “raingutter” look) glass rear fender mounted reflector, Skiptooth chain with unique sprocket, cruiser style seat, (has some cool early 60s model car decals) Schwinn? Pedals, unique chainguard, and more! This bike comes as shown and is REALLY cool! This bike has been local SINCE NEW! It has not seen the light of day in decades. It came from a small town here in Wisconsin and was hidden away in a small building behind a very old long closed up Chevrolet dealership! I dug around and found a tool box “hanging” tank, and a unique rear carrier rack at the same location. They MAY have came on this bike new. (see my other listings). The tires are 26×2.125. They are old vintage raised white letter tires and do hold air. The bike has triple step rims front and rear with a Bendix? The bike is an original SINGLE SPEED with coaster brakes. (pedal slightly backwards to stop the bike) DIMENSIONS The stand over height is approx 30. The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 29. The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 19. The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 22. The bike will accommodate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust. NOTED FLAWS It is not 100% flawless but is cool for being 70+ years old! Would need a total resto for show or enjoy it in its current patina! The bike has obviously been repainted. May come off you never know! Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. If you check out the closed listings, these EARLY Schwinn balloon tire bikes simply dont seem to exist. This could be a great way to complete your collection. I seem to find one of these every 5 years or so. I hope you can appreciate this one for what it is! This appears to be a fairly nice original unmolested bicycle unless otherwise noted. A great bike to ride on relaxing days through the park or to the beach. Also would be a nice item to display in a shop, restaurant, rec room, sports bar, etc. Stand out from the crowd and be the envy of people who see you riding by.
