Antique Junghans German Vienna Regulator Wall Clock Ornate Case
Up for sale is an antique German Vienna regulator wall Clock. This one is by Junghans. The clock features a carved wooden case with finials and a top ornament. The brass pendulum is not original. We found a gong in the case. It appears that it will require re-attachment. A tag attached indicated that the movement was serviced last in 2007. The movement did wind properly and ran when tested however. This item is part of an inherited estate. We are not clock experts. For this matter, we ask that you please view all photos for details and feel free to message with any questions prior to purchasing. 34 x 15.5 x 7 inches. International Business Machines Master Clock 1939. Model A 13 7. INVAR Double Cylinder Pendulum. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. This clock was still actually hooked up to wires in the house for whatever wattage the clock runs on, certainly not house current. This clock was made by International Business Machines (ITR) of Endicott, NY. This is their model “A 13 7″. The clock was made n 1939, per the serial number on the plate on the inside of the case. The clock has a beautiful “INVAR” pendulum on it, that was an innovation for it’s time, making the clock accurate within 15 seconds every month. Invar is a nickel-iron alloy that started being used in place of mercury in clock pendulums in the latter 1800s. Invar was considered much more accurate, and also less hazardous. We also have the instruction manual for the clock that comes in a small red three ring binder. The binder has the pre-printed manual, plus lots of pencil sketches of clock relevant items as well. Says No 226 and April 1938 in the manual at the top right of each page. Has “50” printed in the instruction book and there was that same number in chalk on the bottom of the case that we accidentally mostly wiped off when getting the dust off this beast. The wood case still has a lot of its’ original elegance. Some sun damage along the top front and To one side of the case. Other wear to finish in place from age. The locking latch for the doors are still on the the side, and the key to operate them comes with the clock. Hinges for the door are in working order. Door is securely attached to the rest of the case. Nice intact front glass piece on this case. All the glass is intact with no blistering or cracks. The clock face is made of tin and has “International” noted on it. Nice brass movement on this clock, see pic. This is not a mechanical key wound spring movement. The movement is wound by electricity, and then the beautiful pendulum keeps the movement running. Great pendulum rod and bob on this clock that look appropriate to the clock. Has a long silver colored metal rod. Then the twin cylinder silver colored metal bob. The movement ticks when the pendulum is started. The metal beat scale for determine case is level on wall is in place. The clock case stands 61.25″ tall, by 20″ across, by 8-3/8 wide. The clock face is 11.25 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Other items that can be seen in the pictures are not included with this Clock, only the IBM Wall Clock described here. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in not working order. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Will also offer to deliver the clock to within 200 miles of Georgetown, DE one way. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. So again, ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the clock on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don’t be shy, we are always open to reasonable suggestions! I’m a former Playboy Bunny. Since 2004, I used to sell Playboy jewelry & collectibles at the International Playboy Bunny Reunions. I’VE BEEN FEATURED ON PAWN STARS TV SHOW FOR SOME OF MY COOL VINTAGE COLLECTIBLES! CHECK MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR OTHER GREAT PLAYBOY MEMORABILIA, JEWELRY, WEARABLES & MORE! PLEASE SEE PICS FOR EXACT DETAILS & CONDITIONS. THIS IS THE MOST COMPLETE & UNIQUE 100% AUTHENTIC VINTAGE PLAYBOY BUNNY COSTUME I’VE EVER OWNED OR SEEN IN THE PUBLIC MARKET PLACE – which adds to it’s value. THIS IS A VERY RARE 1960’s “PUCCI” PRINT & original black PANTYHOSE are also included, but not incorporated in the display. THE INTERACTIVE ACRYLIC DISPLAY IS ONE OF A KIND, DISCONTINUED & THE LAST ONE I HAVE. I lost my original supplier & have not been able to find any company that makes such high quality, accurately constructed display cases like this one. I personally & completely designed the interactive display & personally arranged the contents with permanent professionally affixed non-piercing clear clips. The clips hold it with perfect tension, so there is no droop or tension on the fabrics. YOU CAN KEEP, CHANGE or REMOVE the INCLUDED licensed PLAYBOY POSTERS. It has all-clear hinges, closure clasp, poster grips, wall-hanging hardware & bottom rubber bumpers for standing it on a shelf or other hard surface. Even the photo holders are clear, so it will work with ANY decor.. For more details, see. Aside from the unusual addition of the pantyhose , I’m also including a Very Hard To Find authentic vintage Playboy Bunny’s penlight – WHICH WORKS & is in VERY GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION. These penlights were a mandatory part of our Playboy Bunny costumes. I added 2 pictures of the penlight (on & off) & clipped it to the side laces of a DIFFERENT bunny costume, not the one in this listing. PLEASE NOTE: I MAY opt to sell the penlight separately. Even I couldn’t find one – and I know hundreds of x-Playboy bunnies. It took me years to find a bunny who still had hers & was willing to let it go & sell it to me. For now, I’m adding it to this costume because that makes this costume the MOST complete costume I’ve ever owned or seen for sale on the open market – which makes it more rare & valuable. Considering some of the offers I’ve had for one of these penlights, I reserve the right to exclude the penlight if, by some chance I were to accept a lowball offer on this set. This costume may be featured on a future Pawn Stars episode (which will increase the appraised value). This listing is for. A 1960’s vintage Playboy Bunny complete costume & custom display + 2 interchangeable licensed Playboy rabbit head posters. Rabbit head logo cufflinks (2). Bunny bodice side laces (2). Bunny engraved name rosette. Black pantyhose (included, but not displayed). Photo of a Playboy bunny wearing this rare print costume in the 1960’s. Black & white single Playboy rabbit head poster. Multi-color “Andy Warhol” style repeated (smaller) rabbit heads poster. Custom “interactive” Lucite display case designed by a former Playboy bunny (me) & professionally constructed (OOAK) by a Chicago Lucite Artist. All components of the display are CLEAR, so without the posters installed, the contents are visible from every angle. It is sturdily designed to hang on a wall or sit on a solid surface. The front door swings open so everything inside is easily accessible. The costume & accessories are held in place with custom made clips – which do not pierce the fabrics like other Bunny costume shadow box displays I’ve seen The clips, hinges & door latch & rubber bumpers & nail hangers are all clear. Authentic vintage Playboy Bunny costume penlight. He verbally said it would be worth MORE after Hef died + if it was aired on Pawn Stars TV Show (pending). Jeffry was the co-founder & owner of Acme Connections Inc. Jeffry was possibly the foremost expert on Playboy memorabilia. He was a friend of Hugh Hefner’s & a collector of vintage Playboy Club/Bunny memorabilia for about 40 years. His written appraisal is included. Jeffry had said that this rare pattern + its condition & completeness + my provenance make it so valuable. PLEASE MESSAGE ME FOR DETAILS & QUOTES. PLEASE SEE PICS FOR MORE DETAILS. For your consideration is an exceedingly rare, round / circular-shaped, triple sapphire cabochon and sterling 84 silver 88 cigarette case by Faberge, apparently unmarked, St. Perfectly round section, with rounded corners, the hinge cover hand-chased with a reed motif emanating from a cabochon sapphire thumb-piece, with integral gold wash Vesta compartment, the entire body with elongated reeds, with terminals featuring an additional two cabochon sapphires set in 14K gold 56. Weight: 94.42 gram. A Fabergé workmaster is a craftsman who owned his own workshop and produced jewelry, silver or objets d’art for the House of Fabergé. When Carl Fabergé took over the running of the business in 1882, its output increased so rapidly that the two Fabergé brothers could not manage all the workshops themselves. They therefore decided to establish independent workshops. The owners of these were committed to only work for the House of Fabergé that would supply the sketches and models of the objects to be made. Nothing would be accepted by the House unless it had been approved by either Carl or his appointed deputy. The House of Fabergé also employed its own designers. However we also know from the Memoirs of François Birbaum written in 1919 (Birbaum was Head Designer of the House of Fabergé from 1896 to 1917) that Carl also designed himself. The workmasters presided over teams of craftsmen and were responsible for executing pieces conceived by the company’s designers. The House of Fabergé was staffed with some of the finest goldsmiths and jewelers available. It is often said that Fabergé did not make anything produced by the House of Fabergé. It is true that nothing has survived that can be said to have been the work of Carl Fabergé. His father, Gustav Fabergé and the founder of the House of Fabergé, ensured that his eldest son received the best possible training to take over the business. After Carls education in St. Petersburg, this was followed by a course at the Arts and Crafts School in Dresden, the city to which his parents had retired. He then embarked on an eight-year Grand Tour of Europe where he received tuition from respected goldsmiths in Germany, France and England. The apprenticeship with these goldsmiths would have resulted in Carl working at the bench and producing objects. Petersburg during 1872 his fathers trusted Work-master Hiskias Pendin acted as his mentor and tutor. This would also have involved Carl working at the bench and producing objects. When he was awarded the title Master Goldsmith in 1882, his reputation was then so high that the usual three-day examination was waived;this would not have happened if he had never made anything. The business was divided into several workshops, each with its own specialty. In addition to the fabulous Easter eggs, the workshop also produced table silver, jewelry, European-style trinkets, and Russian-style carvings. The two master jewelers most responsible for making the Fabergé eggs were Michael Perchin and Finnish-born Henrik Wigström. Born in 1860, Perchin became the leading workmaster in the House of Fabergé in 1886 and supervised production of the eggs until 1903. Those eggs he was responsible for have his MP (MP- Michael Perchin) markings. All signed eggs made after 1903 bear Henrik Wigstrom’s HW mark. Of course, not all eggs were stamped, so other goldsmiths may have supervised production of some of the eggs. Altogether there have been more than 40 workmasters. The unusual, dark chip-carved oak case is stylistically a bit of a holdover from the previous century. The case has more of a 17th century look, not only by material and decoration but because of the slim waist and comparatively narrow hood and face. The working eight-day weight-driven movement is original to the case and strikes a bell on the hour. There is a functional calendar dial and a seconds bit as well. Fortunately the lovely old case still retains the rich black patina that only a couple hundred years can impart. An interesting unmodified transitional element is the curious carved crown treatment on the hood which seems to foreshadow the “broken arch” pediment which started appearing about 1750. This fine grandfather clock measures 7’9″ tall and is 20″ wide at the hood. Just big enough to be authoritative but not imposing. It will fit in a modern 8′ ceiling house without any alterations. The movement has been recently overhauled and it keeps good time on one winding a week. The item “Antique English Tall Case Grandfather clock C. 1740, James Webster” is in sale since Saturday, September 21, 2019. Case Dimensions 10cm Height x 9cm x 8cm Base Foot Print Fully Signed Cartier Paris & Serial Numbered Recently Serviced & Perfect Working Condition Accompanied with original Cartier Box For additional background details on the concept of this particular Cartier clock case design of the prism clock and why it is classified as a mystery clock as well, read below to learn more about its unique unique elements of illusion which it possesses and how it works. History & Significance of The Cartier Mystery Clock & the Prism Clock Like many of Cartiers inspirations for clocks, the present clock also drew from the elements of magic and illusion. In 1898, Louis Cartier, one of the three Cartier brothers and grandson of founder Louis-François, moved to 13 rue de La Paix with his father, Alfred. Louis was a talented creator of jewels and art objects, and expanded his skills by tying his craft with clock making traditions, lost now for more than a century. During this time frame, societys interests were gravitating heavily towards a new found fascination illusion, magic and the slight of hand and as more people became interested in the artistry of Houdini and other similarly accredited magicians, the Cartier brothers looked to incorporate this fascination into the foothold of many of their table clocks which used various elements of illusion to hide the working mechanism or even the dial as a whole giving way to the invention famously known as the mystery clock. As a result the Pendules Mystérieuses, or mystery clocks and other fascinating illusions , were Cartiers masterpieces, and continued to epitomize the companys exceptional artistry for decades to come in their objects of virtu and desk clocks so successfully that this incorporation made the firms clocks more desirable then any other in the world. Historically, it is a well known fact that Cartier guarded the secret behind these masterpieces fiercely even at the expense of their own sales staff which they would change around so nobody would learn of the way the invention was being created. It was not simply a matter of the name; the Mysteryclock always contained a secret that was supposed to be never revealed, explains Hans Nadelhoffer in his book, Cartier: Jewellers Extraordinary. Over-inquisitive salesmen at the Rue de la Paix, who tried to force explanations from the craftsmen, were rebuffed and fired even. For decades examples of The wonder clocks such as this example have had their secret guarded like the Sphinx, and Cartier protected them from the eyes of prying admirers and competitors alike. Even To this day Cartier is still the only creator of this clock design. Generally speaking if not familiar, Mystery clocks are considered by many to be one of the House of Cartiers greatest achievements. Queen Mary was given a Mystery clock in 1924; in 1945, General Charles de Gaulle presented one of these ingenious creations to Joseph Stalin. The present clock as with the other mystery clocks consistently demonstrates this level of exceptional engineering and stylish artistry, and is hence why it is part of this mystery clock genre which Cartier is so famously known for. The Prisms Illusion & How it works : Like Mystery clock genre, the Prism clocks rely on a simple but clever sleight of hand to amuse the viewer. Inspired by the workings of a submarine periscope, Gaston Cusin invented this ingenious effect using a set of quartz mirrors to form a prism which sits inside the clock, above the clock face and mechanism which are concealed in the base. This then made it possible for the clock face to be only visible from the front of the clock, appearing at a slightly reclined angle. The dial is in the classic Cartier style when in sight But turn the clock around, and everything disappears. For example, from the rear the clock is entirely transparent and see through as well making it an extremely fascinating example. See photos for reference making it one of the firms most sight after clock design types. Additionally the condition is excellent and the present clock which is crafted in a sleek Art Deco style with hand cut lapis lazuli accents is in perfect condition as well with no chips or discoloration to the silver case and no interior damaged to set of quartz crystal prisms and mirrors along the interior walls. The Movement The mechanical 8 day movement is also in perfect condition and signed Cartier Plaqué Argent 20M Swiss. The case is marked Cartier Paris/ Marques et Modèle Déposés/ Registered Trademarks and Design & serial numbered and the movement is made in-house by Cartier at its La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture, making Cartier one of the few watch companies still manufacturing mechanical clocks movements. Additionally the clock is accompanied by its original red embossed leather case as well and was produced in extremely limited production.
