This machine plays 15.5 metal tune-sheets (discs) and features double combs in perfect condition creating an amazing sound. The double combs produce a more full and rich room filling sound compared to machines with single combs and are definitely worth the extra cost. This is a top quality machine and was originally protected by 22 patents with the latest Nov. The Regina Music Box Co. Was founded in 1889 in Leipzig, Germany and shortly thereafter was moved to the United States due to the high cost of importing. It was considered to be America’s finest music box maker with annual sales at the turn of the last century of about 2 million dollars per year when the average worker only made a few dollars a week. Condition is everything when purchasing a music box and this music box is in great mechanical condition, plays perfectly and sounds amazing. The oak cabinet has a beautiful finish and is in excellent condition. It measures 22 1/4″ x 22″ x 12 1/2 tall. There is a small area on the back of the cabinet below the lid that appears to have a slight repair (see last photo). Considering the large number of these music boxes that were made, only a few survive and many are not in very good condition.
