Vintage / Antique Cash Tender. The National Cash Register Company of Dayton, Ohio Cash Register. Lovely ornate piece of history! This is a wonderfully restorable piece. Very ornate in detailing of exterior plating. This is a model 856-G National. I removed several exterior plates to clean the unit to present status and tested all keys. The drawer does not stay closed but also rubs on the tin plates above the door so some adjusting needs done there. The wood insert is worn with layers splintering from age. The marble ledge was replaced at some point with two plastic composite pieces that do have cigarette burn markings. It is missing the ledger box key and the two brackets that hold the box in place have some none-original bolts. There are a couple spots where I noticed some panel bolts missing. The glass panel facing the cashier has several edge chips but neither glass panel is cracked or broken and I believe these to be original. It is missing the cap plate. Much of the finish is bright but there are some areas of finish wear. The wood base does have some chipping, also. Look at the photos. This is a great historic piece and wonderful for decor, your own business, or theatrical staging. The register is extremely heavy, likely, nearing or exceeding 100 pounds.
