This is an extremely rare collectors anvil. If there is serious interest I might let it go. This is one of the best stamps of this period Hay Budden I have ever come across. Why is this anvil worth so much? The stamp you are looking at is extremely rare few Hay Budden Anvils were ever made with this stamp. This maybe the nicest example of this Stamp still around. Smaller Signature anvils have become increasingly hard to come by. This is a collectors piece just like a coin will be worth more if its rare and in great shape anvils follow the similar rules. Hay Budden is likely the best known of the American Anvil manufactures and set a standard for anvil making others were judged and compared against. In the years of operation they made 100,000s of anvils but very few in comparison survived even fewer still this old and of this size. Hay Budden only made Anvils. Where other manufacturers produced anvils, hand tools & vices for Blacksmiths.
