This remarkably heavy, authentic antique Indo-Persian curved dagger was never intended as a crude weapon of self-defense; rather, it is a presentation-grade decorative luxury object. It perfectly epitomizes the high-end “Grand Tour” souvenirs commissioned for wealthy Western travelers and dignitaries who sought out the finest exotic artifacts to adorn the sophisticated smoking rooms and libraries of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Unlike common, modern tourist replicas stamped from flimsy sheet metal, this exceptional estate piece is cast from thick, non-magnetic solid brass, boasting a massive, deeply satisfying weight of 13.2 ounces unboxed. THE ARTISTRY OF THE GRAND TOUR PRESTIGE PIECE During the height of Western fascination with Eastern art, local master artisans adapted traditional weaponry into stunning, narrative-rich display pieces. The hilt retains both individual inlaid red and green faux-stone cabochons comfortably in place. Note: Reflecting its history as a cherished domestic display piece, there is a historic, period-correct lead or tin-based solder stabilization repair across an old crack on the reverse lower curve of the scabbard. This stable, old repair did not penetrate to the front show side, leaving the primary display presentation entirely unaffected for mantle or cabinet exhibition.
