Rare 1938 Philco Chairside Radio. Rare 1938 Philco Chairside Radio, model 38-7CS. This chairside radio console comes complete with a solid wood chassis, a lower round cloth grille (cloth needs to be replaced) with horizontal bars, a center storage space, and an excellent looking top dial and display. This model uses 6 tubes, runs on a 115-volt AC current, and has broadcast and shortwave waveband frequencies, as well as cone-centric automatic tuning, which was a first for Philco in a chair side model. This radio has the original wood veneer and finish. Shows wear over time and needs to be refinished. All four original knobs including the one around the top dial. The grille design is in excellent condition. The radio is in outstanding and solid condition. Have not tested it yet to see if it works as is. This is a rare and outstanding example of a pre-war radio and of a significant mark in the history of the Philco company, and this radio.
