Stamped on the brass mechanism is’G. 32′, indicating it is a Gordian Hettich Sohn which is one of the smaller Black Forest manufacturers founded in 1836 although as it is GHS it is post-1880. The cuckoo comes out every half hour, it cuckoos once on the half hour and for the number corresponding to the hour. The only issues to note are relatively minor: a very small amount of the white detailing in some places has fallen off around the winder holes and the number 5 (V). Also the handle or knob to pull the back cover off is no longer there but could be replaced, although the back has 2 latches on the top and groove fitting at the bottom so a handle to pull the back off is not really necessary.
