Antique Victorian era multiple wax seal wheel desk stamp. The handle is crafted from solid rose quartz stone, tapering to a brass wheel with various seal matrices. The extraordinary part of this piece is the stunning black and white sardonyx hardstone cameo that adorns the base of the handle. Depicting the side profile of a dog, beautifully rendered and so lifelike. I imagine this was a loyal companion to the original owner of the seal wheel, what a lovely and long lasting tribute to “man’s best friend”! In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with use and age. Measures 2 1/4″ length x 1″ diameter front of the wheel x 15/16 diameter at the cameo end. An exquisite piece and just perfect for collectors and jewelry makers wanting to use these prized seal sets and wheels for the making of pendants and rings. The matrices measure 7/16 diameter and are as follows. Depicting a rooster under the words WHILE I LIVE I’LL CROW. Depicting a heart in hand surrounded by the words LOVE and TRUTH. C 1800 Mitchell & Mott New York Inlaid Mahogany Tall Case Grandfather Clock

Mitchell & Mott New York Inlaid Mahogany Tall Case Clock C. Mitchell & Mott Federal Mahogany Tall Case Clock. Henry Mitchell was in partnership with Jordan Mott at work in New York City at 27 Pearl Street Circa 1790 – 1809. This magnificent example stands 98 1/2″ Tall, 21 1/4″ wide and 10 1/2 deep. Early period tall case clocks from New York City are extremely rare and hard to find, so this represents an opportunity to acquire an original signed example. The “High Style” inlaid mahogany case has wonderful wood selection, contrasting satinwood string inlay, inlaid rosettes, and geometric inlaid capitals. Turned mahogany quarter columns flank the waist section of the case. The shaped waist door has a shaped arched top and wonderful oval inlay. The door lock is original, functions and comes with a key. The glass in the bonnet is original. The clock descended in the Hageman family of Montclair NJ and other than the appropriate bench made restored bracket feet, it is completely original. When we acquired the clock there was chipping in the dial at the dial posts and the posts were attached with screws. We had the dial touched up at the 4 dial posts and reset the dial feet. The movement is complete and in an excellent state of preservation. There are no replacements or solder repairs to the works. The clock runs and strikes just fine. The case has a delightful warm patina and the stepped molded base terminates on ogee bracket feet. The eight day works are typical of what you find in this area and are coupled to an early painted iron dial of English origin which is characteristic of the early clocks made in New York. Original Vintage Super Rare Olaf Von Bohr 4702 Gancio Lot of 4 Wall Clothes Hook

Olaf von BohrOlaf von Bohr. Olaf von Bohr is a prolific designer who has done a lot of product design work for Kartell. Here is a brief biography of Olaf von Bohr. In that post I looked at the 8800 and 7800 bed table, which remains a wonderfully usable piece today. In 1970, Olaf von Bohr designed the 4702 wall clothes hook (gancio, which is Italian for hook), another wonderfully usable piece, so much so that Kartell reissued it, and it is for sale at retail today. The 4702 wall clothes hook is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The hook is made of three parts in plastic, and also requires the appropriate fasteners to attach the base plate to the wall. Installation is incredibly easy. Once the base plate is securely fastened, the hook itself slips into place and snaps over the base, and a threaded peg screws in and attaches the entire assembly. From what I have seen, for the original issue hook, the base was sometimes made in the same color as the hook and peg. Sometimes it was provided in black. It really doesnt matter because after installation, the base cannot be seen anyway. The combination hook and peg makes this a top quality wall mounted coat rack. It is extraordinarily sturdy and has the size and strength to allow three heavy winter coats to be hung from it when the need arises. That is what I do with the two I have on a wall in my closet. Each hook is 4-1/4 by 4-1/4 by 2-5/8 10.8cm by 10.8cm by 6.7cm. The vintage hooks are opaque and made from ABS. They are marked on the back 4702 Kartell made in Italy in a circle with design / OLAF VON BOHR underneath. The vintage hooks were manufactured in white, red, orange, green, brown, black, and chrome. The new issue in black and white are made from ABS. The other color alternatives are made from transparent or batch dyed polycarbonate.
