Antique Daugherty Typewriter with Case and Base. This is an important typewriter in the history of typewriters. It embodied the critical elements of the “modern” typewriter; Four rows of keys, typing that one could see as they typed and a shift key. This one has its original tin cover. The base was made using the template of a Pittsburgh Visible no 10. The base is new. The carriage bolts affixing it to the base are modern carriage bolts, that I acquired at our local hardware store. New feet have been made to replace the old worn out ones. A new ribbon has been installed. All other parts are to my knowledge period correct. The serial number is located in 3 places and are all matching. The serial number is 2659. As you can see from the type sample, this typewriter does function. We can send more pictures if you need.
