Rare early Seth Thomas regulator with seconds hand. Running and keeping excellent time. The Seth number 2 was an accurate time keeper and the railroad used them in their system showing the correct time to the many travelers passing through the train stations. Original glass [dial glass is wavy and has a couple of cool bubbles]. Dial was redone at some point, as well as some bushings. The large square weight is hidden behind a drop down [sliding up and down] thin board. Runs 8 days on a wind. The hands, dial, pendulum and movement have been removed for packing. The square weight is not original and has the weight of 7 lbs. Plus the date of manufacture stamped in it. This chart if from a Seth Thomas regulator identification guide. Front pendulum/rear weight used until 1879. Seconds bit first used in 1879. Base shape = pre-1880. Bowtie below dial = pre-1890.
