We list more Police memorabilia. Check our other sales. J Hudson & Co, 84 Buckingham St Birmm. Numbered on the side 7761. From an estate of a Met Police Detective Sergeant (retired in the 1980s) who used it on active duty in the 1960s. Together with a later metal chain and a leather loop. Size : the whistle 8.3 cm long x approx 1.7 cm diameter; chain and leather strap 92 cm long. Condition : General good condition. Surface wear, dents and scratches but the body is solid. Whistle produces a good loud sound. Chain with some rusty links. Leather loop with some wear. Impressive, huge, tallest and extremely rare organ steam whistle. Made by Schaeffer & Budenberg (S&B). Antique and impressive device from industrial age in amazing condition, with not even a small dent. Only small signals of use. Made in solid massive brass with great dark patina. It has not the american Schaeffer & Budenberg signature. This S&B signature indicates. It was made in Germany or United Kingdom. During second half of XIX century. Complete tall: 49 inches. Diameter of tube: 6.1/4 inches. It is untested, however all seems to be working. All defects not mentioned but visible in the pictures will be considered as described. Nathan Steam Locomotive Antique Train Side Mount 6 Chime Steam Whistle

A rare huge 6 chime steel and brass steam whistle. It is 30 1/2 tall overall. The whistle part itself is 15 1/4 tall. The top part of whistle itself is about 7 1/4 in diameter. Base of whistle itself across the fins is 8 in diameter. The housing around whistle is made of steel and is approximately 10″ wide and 19″ tall. The whistle itself is either steel or iron. The bottom section marked Nathan is made of brass including side mount. The U shaped part that holds the brass disc marked Chicago Pat Mar 24 1925 AW 39 is made of steel. The handle looks like steel. The valve knob is made of iron or steel. In the photos, parts marked with S are steel or iron, brass parts are marked B. Please see photos carefully as they are part of the description thanks. The whistle housing is very clean. No dents or scratches. There are a few places where the nickel plating is wearing away. I operated it and placed my compressor hose into the plug opening and it let out a mighty shriek. Released the lanyard and it cut off. The spark plug is untested. There are several “you tube” videos that show the operation of the whistle. This is a cool tool. Lanyard to top of the housing is 7 1/2. Lanyard to end of spark plug is 5 1/4.
