Beautifully refurbished Antique Chelsea Clock Co. 1 Pendulum Weight Driven Wall Clock. It is currently not working but a simple service is all it needs to be up and running as all of the constituent parts are present and in working order. The case is oak and has had some refinishing done including what seems to be a new bottom pedestal. This clock, having a large dial and long drop, is a very popular form. The twelve inch white enameled non-crackable dial is painted on tin. This dial is in very good original condition and is signed boldly across the front “Chelsea Clock Company Boston”. The beat plate looks to be replaced. The movement is brass and die-stamped on the front plate in the upper right with the Makers name, Chelsea Clock Co.. It is also numbered 11017 in the upper left. It is weight driven and is designed to run for eight-days on a full wind. The brass plates are extra heavy insuring rigidity to the movement. The steel pinions are cut and polished, the pivots are hardened and polished. The escapement is a recoil format. The pendulum rod is wood and the bob is brass. The motion of this pendulum can be viewed through the lower door. This clock also retains the clockmakers original set up label. This can be seen pasted to the back of the door. Please see pictures for condition details as the photos are considered part of the description. Our inventory consists mainly of used items from 1 year old to 180 years old and usually have some type of mechanical motor or machine driving it. We do our best to describe them accurately however, we cannot foresee the future and old parts can break at any time without warning, and without visible flaw. We are a small family owned business and have been operating for over 19yrs. We believe in honest business practices similar to the NWACC sworn oath that is required for membership. Even though the NWACC does not enforce it, we pay special attention in trying to uphold and protect the hobby of collecting clocks and watches. We try to disclose anything that has been done to alter a particular timepiece, but more importantly, we do not tear apart timepieces, parting them out s. Trictly to make a profit. Everything we sell as parts either comes to us that way, or it’s too far gone for restoration. You are viewing a magnificent all original timepiece by Sawin & Dyar Mahogany & Giltwood Banjo Clock, Boston, MA. Signed & painted metal dial. Patriotic reverse painted glasses. 8 day time only weight driven brass movement which has been ultrasonically cleaned and serviced. The braided nylon cord was replaced. The hands are original steel hands. Comes with original key not pictured. 41? X 11″ x 4″. It is in excellent condition for it’s age. I’ve searched everywhere and could not find another one like it. The only flaws are a piece of wood has broken off where the eagle sits. The four corners of the inlaid wood on the bottom door are missing. Other than that the clock is amazing. This clock is that old. The mechanism is in excellent condition and keeping accurate time. If properly serviced this clock should last another 200 plus years and this is proof of this. The reverse painting is in excellent condition which shows a little wear due to its age. When received, you will have to unscrew the throat to reinstall the weight. If you feel you cannot do this, it will be your responsibility to have a professional to reinstall this. Please view all pictures and if need be contact me with any questions before making an offer.
