This is an extraordinary piece, and it still looks magnificent. You step on the turtles head to open the shell to spit into. When you step on the head the shell still stays open until you push the head back up to close it. It does show some wear and age. The underside of the shell has the lion share of it. The underneath of the turtles frame has some patina as well, as does the rest of the turtle. The underside of the shell has a nick in the metal as shown in the pictures. I believe the spittoon bowl has been swapped out at one time or another. The stamp is awfully worn away. You can still make out some of it though. It shows some other normal wear as well. Has some scratches and scuffs. This piece is over 125 years old, but it carries its age gracefully. Overall this is a very nice piece for its age, and utility of the item. When closed it measures roughly 14 long. See pictures to make your own determination on physical condition.

Victorian Era French High Classical Solid Bronze 17 Figural Cherub Candlesticks

For you to consider are a pair of antique solid bronze French Regency style figural cherub or putti candlesticks. An exquisitely cast pair dating to the late Victorian era, they are of substantial size and remarkable detail. A rich aged patina that’s mellowed with time enhances their antique appearance as well as the impressive and stately silhouette. Standing nearly 17 inches in height, each cherub stands on a plinth type base measuring 4 in diameter, and lifts a floral candle cup that’s cradled in a designated decorative foliate bobeche to catch excessive wax drippings. The round felted bases possibly stood on a marble pedestal or platform at one time, and if so these have been lost over the years. The bronze sculptural candleholders that remain are in beautiful heirloom condition, showing no signs of excessive use, damages, or compromising imperfections. Only their slight oxidation and aged patina is left behind to speak of their history. Wear is commensurate for age and use, so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing. This is an extremely large lamp and very seldom found in such a wonderful size. A fine decorative touch for any room or decor. Fine addition to any collection. The detail has such depth that one could see the definition right down to crocheting needles in her hands. The lamp shows wear typical of age and use with loss to the finish easily touched up, but as you can see was remarkable preserved. The cord is original and should be reired at her base. This is the Greeleys Bourbon Bitters G-101 Quart. Barrel-form; blown in an attractive shade of smoky olive green with topaz tones. Applied square collared mouth; smooth base. Condition : Upper lip has a shallow flake, and a small nick that can be felt with a fingernail; otherwise in Very Good++ to Excellent essentially as-made condition with strong, crisp embossing and mold impression. Beautiful and scarce color on this Keeper. No cracks, repaired damage or other excuses! Displays brilliantly on a sill, and the perfect addition to any Antique Barrel Bitters color run.
