A Pair of Vintage World War Two Era. Having Leather as opposed to Fabric Surrounds these are an early example of this Type of Goggles. As employed in WWII by various branches of the Military, both British and Allies. Fabric Head-Strap intact, not elasticated, strong and serviceable. Amber Tinted Glass Laminated Lenses with supple Brown Leather Surrounds. Each Lens consists of two Pieces of Glass sandwiching an adhesive Amber Tinted Film, this also acts as a safety feature to minimize the spread of Glass fragments in case of breakage. Lenses are in excellent condition, with only very minor peripheral de-lamination in places as shown clearly, with only slight signs of age and use, no major damage, no visible scratches, no chips or cracks. Both Lenses are firmly in situ. There is nothing that compromises the view in use, the Amber tint is about the same as Sunglasses, not too dark and very effective. The Supple Brown Leather. Surrounds show only very minor patina of age and use, they have no major damage, splits or structural issues, they are vented to prevent the Lenses from misting up when worn. The Eye Surrounds are Sprung on an Internal Wire Frame, this is working as designed, they sit snugly against the Face. For a more comfortable and stable fit. All the stitching, seams etc are intact and strong. The Silver Metalwork is all structurally sound with just surface patination of age and use, it has no major damage or structural issues, no rot, dents, cracks or breaks. The Headband Fixings are strong and secure. Shown comprehensively in the pictures, please examine them in close up to satisfy yourself as to condition, suitability, etc. Of the item(s) shown. I always show items in their true light and will never deliberately hide a negative or detrimental aspect. Approximate external dimensions are as shown. I will Post in the U. What’s the difference? We know vast majority of people dont really differentiate the two terms nowadays but there is actually a huge difference between them. The difference between restore and refurbish is that restore is to reestablish, or bring back into existence while refurbish is to rebuild or replenish with all new material. Restore English, Verb To reestablish, or bring back into existence. To restore to original (or better) working order and appearance. To bring back to a previous condition or state. To give or bring back (that which has been lost or taken). Related terms: restoration restorer. English, Verb To rebuild or replenish with all new material. To rebuild or replenish with all new material Source: wikidiff. Since many people still keep asking questions about whether those items we list are repainted, with new stickers etc, we feel the need to clarify things. All items we list as restored are almost 100% originals , nothing new put on them other than oil & grease, rubber o-rings (tires), rubber / felt feet, and motor / treadle belts, depending on the model. If a part is missing or damaged and we can’t repair it, we’ll replace it with one from a donor machine of the same era. Never a newer or a new one. Those items are certainly repainted as many think, nor have we put new stickers / decals which would then label them as renovated or “refurbished”. Everything was set in the factory back then. Motor sets may have a new plug and leads but coils and internals would be vintage and serviced. Lamps will be new. Always have in mind the time to restore an item, is many times the time needed to refurbish a same one. And although it is much, much more time consuming, we prefer this approach which preserves the authenticity and history of an item rather than just making it eye appealing but strip it from it’s history and identity. Growing up in Athens, Greece watching the archeologists, since we were kids, painstakingly removing layer after layer of debris and foreign matter from the ancient finds in open dig sites the size of football fields using nothing more than small brushes the size of a toothbrush and small hand tools along with tons and tons of patience and sunscreen may have contributed in our later days attitude towards items of historic significance ;- Or at least we like to think so :.
