Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Authentic 1863 U. Civil War Model 1840 Artillery Sword with Original Scabbard, made by the Ames Mfg. This Has a Brass Cross Guard with Wood Handle. The Original Leather is Missing, As Pictured. The Sword Blade is Signed D. 1863″ on One Side, and “Ames Mfg. Chicopee Mass On The Other Side. The DR Inspector’s Mark is the Marking for Daniel Reynolds who Inspected Swords for Ames in 1863. This Sword is in Overall Good Original Condition with a Wonderful Aged Patina, As Pictured!!! The Sword measures approx. 37 3/4″ Long with a 32″ Blade. The Total Length of the Sword in Scabbard is 39 1/4. The Scabbard is the Original Steel Metal Scabbard with Two Loops. It is in Good Original Condition and is Marked on the Bottom with Numbers, as Pictured. The Sword Slides Nicely In and Out of the Scabbard! The Blade Has Normal wear From Age.
