An antique Putnam “Lightning” Fruit or Canning Jar with glass lid and wire closure, American, ca. Crude, blown Quart in attractive shade of very pale Yellowish Amber; factory ground lip. Embossed: TRADE MARK / LIGHTNING on body. Base is embossed: PUTNAM / 42. Retains correct “3-date” glass Lid. Color Note: The glass color depicted in the photos is accurate. I would call this either a pale Honey Amber or strong Yellow Amber. The lid is one shade darker than the jar, as shown. The factory ground lip has a shallow flake (close-up, photo #12) and typical roughness. There are many tiny seed bubbles, as shown; no cracks, no open bursts. Fine color and whittled character throughout. Beware of the numerous reproductions out there; this jar guaranteed old and authentic! Displays brilliantly in a sunlit sill or window shelf ; this jar really glows in certain light! Highly-appropriate for any collection. I would classify this Jar as pale Yellow/Amber with strong Olive tones. The lid is quite special with shades of pale Green Apple and Olive (see close-ups). There are shallow flakes and roughness on the factory ground lip, as shown. A few air inclusions noted; no open bursts. Fine color and whittled character throughout. OFFER EARLY – With so many watchers, dont miss out. Strong offers are often accepted without a counter. Quart Amber Beaver Jar Ca. 1900 – This jar has become a bit of a Canadian icon. Beaver jars were originally manufactured at Ontario Glass Company in Kingsville, Ontario (where his jar is currently located). In fact, a friend dug around at the original site about 40 years ago and found shards of amber beaver jars which would be strong evidence that these jars were indeed produced in Kingsville, Ontario. There is a very small chip to the outside of the lip (pictured) which does not go through the lip. There is also a small piece of glass fused to the inside of the jar which is the darker dot on the backside of the jar (closeup pictured as well). Measures 7 1/4 tall with lid. So very Hollywood Regency! Gorgeous hanging swag lamp of amber with dimpled coin dot design, embossed with brass or bronze gold leaf on the outer part of the glass. Pull chain turns this beauty on and off. Appears to have been used very little. Original wiring and socket, works nicely. This is not marked but is very much in the style of Carl Falkenstein lamps and very well may be one since they are not always well marked. It is a real beauty when lit. Particulars: globe is 12″ across and 23″ high from loop to bottom, or 31.5 around. Bead chain at bottom is 8 long. Chain and cord are approximately 105. Takes a 60 watt bulb. Sends great patterns on the wall when lit, really sweet. Beautiful addition to your mid century modern or Hollywood Regency remodeling project! Note the bottom of the lamp — a spring loaded base for attaching the lamp to a square switch stand post This is a recent “barn find” I dusted it off a bit but basically this is exactly as found, cobwebs & all. There’s rust but not rot. The lenses have some outer scuffing but are intact. There are 2 amber & 2 blue lenses. No cracks or chips that I can see. Has the original lantern insert with the Pyrex glass. Near the company name at the top there are a couple more areas of print with dates. This print is very hard to make out as shown in images. I believe it’s early 1900’s but you Railroad collectors will probably know more. I left this without cleaning it to give the best possible idea of what you’ll have to do, if anuthing. It looks spectacular the way it is in my amateur opinion. Measures approx 15″ high X 9″ wide. A hanging swag lamp of amber with vertical lines, metal diffuser in the center makes the light really nice and soft. Pull chain turns this beauty on and off. Appears to have been used very little. The socket is original and says “Lawrin Company Kosciusko Miss” which was a light company that made lamps during the mid century modern period. Particulars: globe is 12″ across and 12″ high from loop to bottom, or 35 around. Bead chain at bottom, adorned with tassel, is 9 long. Chain and cord are approximately 180. Takes a 60 watt bulb. Sends great patterns on the wall when lit, really sweet. Fairly crude, mold-blown Quart in an attractive shade of light Yellow/Golden Amber. Base is embossed: PUTNAM / 225. Typical roughness/flakes on the ground lip; there an adhered dry gasket, or reddish wax, on the outer ledge, as shown. Hundreds of tiny seed bubbles, and a large air inclusion on the shoulder noted. Traces of content residue noted on interior. Note : there is a surface-only annealing line on the base (see close-ups). Displays absolutely brilliantly on a sunlit sill or window shelf.
